Stinger GT ...REAL Highway Gas Mileage?

I get 26 while freeway cruising. This was over a 3,000 mile journey at 75-85 mph in comfort mode. The mpg did not fluctuate much except in Pennsylvania with all the hills and curves. In town I get 15 on a good day.

On a 275 mile drive up the 15 from LA to Vegas going at an average of 80-85 with a few 100-105mph bursts (and a whole lot of overtaking maneuvers) - 27.4 mpg. city I get 15-19 depending on how crazy I get on the pedal. Not a big deal for me, but I wish they put a 20gallon tank in this 3.3TT.
Wow 27.4 is amazing MPG for a 3.3TT Stinger even for a highway cruise.

I can avg. 28-30mpg on the highway, but only with cruise set at 65-70mph. As soon as I go over 75 it drops to 25mpg, and if I break 80 my avg. drops to the lower 20s. Seems like I hit a wall of air over 80mph(too much drag) and have to draft behind a big truck to get anything over 25mpg. Am I the only one???

I also agree a larger tank would be nice in general(less fill-ups), but I dont think many people would use a longer travel "range". Our 320mile tank will allow me to drive for over 5hr straight and make it from SFL all the way to Georgia before refilling! I may be mistaken but wouldnt driving for 5hrs straight without stopping be on the borderline of unhealthy &/or unsafe?

I know "truckers" have to drive much longer hours/distances, and I understand a GT is for "Touring", but I dont think your average driver would benefit from more than a 300mile range.

I think most people like myself would appreciate a larger tank, but not at the expense of slightly less performance/mpg due to more weight, etc. Maybe I'm the exception, but that could be one reason why Kia didnt push for a larger tank.

The tank size is likely limited mostly by the design. I do a fair bit of driving on rural highways in the southwest and along the continental divide. A larger tank would help with scheduling fuel stops, but yeah, bio breaks are still required.

I'm now a little suspicious of the mileage counter. every time I fill up the range goes to 320, regardless of what my avg mpg says on the odometer unit. no matter if it's 17mpg or 25...Am I looking at this wrong?

But the space for a bigger tank; where would it go, what room would you give up to have a bigger tank?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Might be an individual quirk of your car. My "Drive" info keeps resetting itself for no known reason. I even have "Off" selected in the reset options. Lots of programmed electronics going on constantly, lots of opportunity for quirks and glitches.

I came from a Prius, I had 48 a gallon. lol Now im at 19... But hey at least I can overtake alot of cars now that I have GT.. my wallet doesnt like the frequent fill ups as well. All good! Smiles per Miles

Kia advertises 29 mpg highway lol....

I have never seen anything past 21 on highway on city I get about 15-16 mpg

27 on a 500-mile road trip here, on 87 octane, and that included heavy (stop and go at times) rush hour traffic for many miles, both in SC and back in Atlanta.

Got 28 in the highway with some stop and go traffic 93 octane and mostly 78mph on cruise control in Eco mode.

I need to use eco mode and cruise control.

I am always on sport mode. The mileage I stated was being on sport mode all the time.

Same. I get mumbleteen per gallon on my combined city/hwy commute cycle. Tho as it turns out my right foot weighs ~87 lbs. This could be a factor.

My daily commute I'm getting about 24 mostly in smart mode unless someone things they can take the stinger and well I have to show them otherwise.

Agree lol!

I don’t know why.....

But my mpg is terrible. I get similar gas mileage on my Lexus and that has a V8.

About like that. The Genesis 4.6 I had a bit ago and the A8 before that averaged mid-teens as well. Perhaps I should emulate @MrSmoofy a bit.... haven't tried Smart mode much.

@MrSmoofy seems to have the "Smart Idea" LOL use "Smart Mode".

I will follow his lead. I hope my MPG would be improved by this method.

Will report if being "Smart" makes a difference.

Depends on the direction the wind is blowing where I live. I got 30.1 on a trip from Missouri to Michigan but only 28 coming back home. 91 octane (U.S.) in Comfort mode.

Yes besides the MPG in Smart Mode it's actually changing between Eco, Comfort, and Sport for you. When I'm gentle on it you can see this on the dash info center the "Smart Mode" text will be green so you know it's actually in Eco mode. Get on it some and the "Smart Mode" text turns white to let you know you now in comfort and then really get on it and it will turn red to show that you're in sport mode.

As an aside, in my 2.0 Stinger I saw 37MPG on my trip from Ft Stockton Tx to Goodyear AZ rest of my trip we averaged 34 mpg including stretches in Texas going 80+ MPH. Back home in SOCAL I continue to average 22MPG on our low octane summer gas. Just thought someone might want to know!

Unnecessary profanity

No disrespect but I am not trying hear sh#t about the little 2.0 LOL. At this point if really wanted to save gas I would drive a Prius or Civic.

I am joking that is great MPG, wish the GT would get anything near that.

I prefer to have more power and less MPG, than more MPG and less power. Hence the reason why I got the GT.

Like the old saying goes bigger is better.
