Stinger GT ...REAL Highway Gas Mileage?

Kia advertises 29 mpg highway lol....
That is for the 2.0L. 25 mpg is the rated average for the 3.3L.

I have reached 30 mpg finally, on my last road trip to TX. Once. 27 to 29 was the common mpg when I filled up. This is the best I have done so far. Usually all highway/freeway hits above 25 mpg, but only a little bit higher.

I do ALOT of heavy traffic driving mon - Friday. Like stop and go S$$$t an hour each way. I have 6k miles on my car and am average 17.3 in total (mix of highway/city). I’m stoked to be above 17.

I've done three trips from central Florida to Atlanta (and back). Each time has been at or above 26 mpg, with the highest being 28.5 or so mpg for the drive. For the most part on cruise control set to 77mph, and never really going above 80 or so even on times when off cruise. Car in Sport mode the whole time. Even the drive with the bike on the roof via the seasucker rack was 26 mpg. I don't think the time it was 28.5 I was doing anything particularly unusual, except I'd left Atlanta about 5am, so I had no traffic really anywhere.

However, I don't know that it makes much of a difference for a long sustained highway drive which mode it's on, given that at highway speeds it's going to be in its highest gear anyways. Although throttle response would be different I suppose.

Made an interprovincial road trip on Easter weekend. The return trip yielded about 28 mpg at 80 mph, but that was with a tailwind.

Expect 27 to 28 on the highway. In all honesty the thing that will get you is city driving where the mpg falls well below what's advertised. So between the higher than advertised highway and lower than advertised city I typically get around 22 mpg on average. I of course did not buy the car for its fuel efficiency but the only thing I can really complain about at this point is the size of its fuel tank. Frequent fill ups are a part of stinger gt life

I drove 60mi to the office and back today - mostly highway and at 31mpg. Key is staying close to 65. I'm in PA so there are hills. That's including bursts where I had to pass a couple folks on a two lane road - which was effortless and fast

Last summer, road trip from El Paso to Austin 28 mpg on the way up, 31 mpg on the way back. AC blasting the whole way, three people full load of luggage. Cruise set at 85. No complaints here!

Now getting like 28 consistently on the freeway every day. I rather put more gas in my Stinger than drive a cookie cutter, Camry, Accord and other bland cars.

My gas mileage is going up as the temps come up, I just calculated my last tank. Indicated 29 mpg, calculated 28 mpg, just over 400 miles on a tank with roughly 75% highway driving. Indicated it was at 32.5 before I had to do some city driving. Pretty sure you'll be able to get low 30s if you're just on the interstate cruising at 65.

I had a base model Optima as a rental on a trip a couple weeks ago, that sucker was getting low 40s with mixed driving, I was really impressed!

This is representative of my daily commute. The first eight miles are surface streets. The next 15 are freeway and the last 2 are surface roads again.

Hmm. 8 mi on surface streets, has to be crazy light traffic, but at least..14-18 min? So that last 17 in ~10 minutes at an overall average of 31 mpg... whatever mods you're running, I want 'em. :D

Precisely!

My @PRESSERtech LLC tune had an immediate +10% improvement in mpg. I should also share that my fuel economy improves even more at lower elevations compared to El Paso where it ranges from 3400 ft to 5700 ft above sea-level.

Wow! My commute produces very different results.

First 4.7 miles, 16 minutes, 13.1 mpg. Yep, less than 20 mph. Which was not a bad traffic day.

The next 4.7 is highway, 5.5 minutes today. So so traffic...speeds from 45 (because trucks) to mumblemumble.

Aggregate mpg was 14.7 today, but usually just under 18.

Have 29,000+ miles now. Daily 55 mile r/t commutes in a mix of rural, suburban and city driving... AND a mix of Sport Comfort and Custom. About 21-22 mpg. Long freeway trips I get 28ish, but no-doubt could do 30 mpg if I nurse it in Eco... but nursing it and driving around in Eco would defeat the purpose.

The mere thought of eco mode is disgusting with such a fine piece of machinery!

that's just when you're stuck on the interstate going 10 over the limit. Of course in that situation, I don't think eco actually improves anything.

I have gotten a little over 32 mpg in eco mode at 70mph, no traffic, on the highway, with adaptive cruise control with the GT2 AWD trim. But my average with city driving was 21.7 mpg, I think I could improve that if I was a little more careful. Saying that it can get real low mpg in stop and go traffic. I just traded mine as I was having paint issues, the smell of anti-freeze while driving was making me ill, and needed a little more room in the back seat for my kids. I got a 2019 Rav4 hybrid to replace it but I still think the Stinger is a great vehicle if Kia can make a few improvements it is an Audi/BMW killer IMHO. I found that the Stinger takes a while to fully break in as my mpg went up a lot after around 4500 miles were on it so get some miles on it before measuring the mpg.

I did a 1200 mile road trip a couple weeks ago. I did a lot of spirited driving on the way up (lots of time on Pacific Coast Highway and some NorCal twisties) and got low 20s. On the way home I stuck to the freeway and managed about 29, and that was mostly cruising on straight highway in the 80mph range. I could have done over 30 easily if I'd gone the speed limit, but then I'd get run off the road, lol.

Eco mode makes a big difference on the highway and a modest one on the streets, but the most important thing to boost that city mileage is to stay out of the boost and be smooth on the gas and brakes. I get right around 18 in sport when driving aggressively, and about 21 when I'm going all granny mode in Eco.

Long story short, the car is thirsty, but mode and technique still matter.

I was on a vacation down to germany and drove with the cruise control most of the way down and up again.
Got to 28 mpg as lowest (~8.4L/100km)
And home with some playing in sports mode i go around 19.6-17.72 mpg (12.0-13.26 L /100 km)
