Stinger got axed ?

No official word yet, just reports of one plant shutting down their production of this vehicle at some point next year.

Just googling online I see a bunch of rumor articles saying it will be axed in 2nd quarter next year for sluggish sales and to make room at production plants for mass production of EVs and Hybrids. However, it's just rumors, no official word, but supposedly from some released production plans for the Korean factories there will be no production on the Stinger by 2nd quarter 2022.

production plants
"Plants" is it, now? Nothing beyond the one plant has been mentioned in the six or seven spammed articles I've perused (all repeating the same source, the Korean Car Blog).

Stinger got axed?! Well that stings…

I say we wait til the sky is actually falling, before claiming the sky is falling :)

With these rumors I decided to bump up my purchase of a GT2 by about six months, and now kind of regret not buying one sooner. Holy cow what a fun car to drive, and hey I did my part to boost sales. I was going to debadge it, but with the model in jeopardy I decided against it. When topping off the gas tank "I love your car." "Thank you." "What is it?" "It's a Kia Stinger." "That's a KIA?!"

People don't know this car exists. It would do Kia a lot of good to get these in rental fleets as a premium car offering - the GT2, ideally but at least the GT1, with AWD. People don't know what they're missing, and any flaws they find, are really just quibbling over levels of perfection.

By now I'm sure most of us have heard the stinger is done but if you'll indulge me for a sec, we were told last year that KIA axed the K900 yet I just saw the release ad for the 2022 K900 and this time you get your choice of the 3.3 twin or the 3.8 naturally! As I've said before I'll believe it when it actually happens

Kia never said they were cancelling the K900. They said they were removing it from the U.S. market. It still sells in other places of the world.

I'm hoping if production halts it is just on hiatus and comes back as a high performance hybrid, with a similar interior but ever so slight tweaks to ergonomics, and AA/Carplay integration - oh and increase the limit of # of MP3s it can view, to the limit of number of files on supported filesystems. After all, the RAM needed to cache filenames is dirt cheap these days. Better yet, include a microsd card slot so I can have android auto/carplay AND usb media available. :)

These days, having an EV version in the mix would be nice. Audi’s got the e tron GT and GT RS, which looks somewhat like the Stinger. KIA could, if they want develop a version of the E-GMP for an electric Stinger. The real issue is the amount of vehicles they could move and if the development cost would be worth it.

Thinking about this, I can't help but wonder if this wasn't a false flag to get prospects who were on the fence about whether or not to pull the trigger on buying a Stinger. I was waffling between going for the GT2, or waiting for the new RS 3 to come out, or for BMW to get the AWD M3 out... and the news did convince me to just go for the GT2 out of fear that by the time I can compare the other cars it wouldn't be an option. If it was guerilla marketing, it worked on me. :)

wow... wow... wow...

If you can afford it then get the M3 w/ AWD or RS3 lol! No reason to pick a Stinger (even if fully loaded and GT2) over either of those cars. Heck if I had the money I would have picked up a new 2020 S4 or new S5 (5-door) over my new 2020 Stinger GT in a heart beat lmfao
