Stinger Canada Sales? (the lack thereof)

The fact that they havent dropped prices is proof their strategy is working , you need to reframe your reference of success for them . No new car in recent history has ever achieved this level of positive press and automotive industry support .This is having a serious impact on the perceptions of the whole brand . The paint issue is/was very isolated and most owners here will tell you they have had no other issues , or nothing more than a few small issues that were dealer corrected ( much better than any BMW I've ever owned ) it really comes down to some guys just cant /wont pay the price and are frustrated that Kia isnt dealing .............in reality this car is underpriced and is a ton of value vs German marques , I think your reference point is too low .....................IMHO

I think they're selling pretty well. I don't see too many on my drives around town between Richmond and Vancouver. Run into maybe 4-5 (that's not near a dealership).

But when I was at the dealership picking my car up, their board was lined up with potential sales. I'm pretty sure they don't have enough cars off the lot to sell really.

In a time when CUV/SUV sales are rising and sedans are dropping, getting a car with the options, features and performance at this price point is great. People keep comparing the A5 and BMW 4 GC to it, spec them out the same and the Stinger will give you more plus a V6 while you will be getting a 4 cylinder in those cars. To get their 6 you will start close to what a loaded GT2 cost in the US without similar options. Canadians got a great deal on this car with more options that we did in the US for a better price. You want one, go buy one.

Kia has offered pretty much zero incentives on the Stinger in Canada since release. All their promotions have targeted the rest of the lineup and seem to be always solely exempting the Stinger from them. And also, of course, dealers are offering very, very little negotiating room for Stingers.

They're moving on average 200 units a month (source: goodcarbadcar). At first I thought this wasn't too bad considering a being a new vehicle. But then Audi moves about 500 units on average for the much more expensive A5 and well over 600 for the more similarly priced A4.

Have to keep in mind that (1) the 2.0T Stinger is yet to be available in Canada and (2) unlike the A5/S5 and 4 Series, the Stinger doesn't have a 2-door coupe body-style.

Putting aside March (where it did over 300 in sales) the Q50 has been doing a little over 200 a month.

The IS, after a slow Jan. and Feb., does a little better w/ sales btwn 250 and 300/month.

So, 200/month isn't bad considering that the Asian rivals have turbo-4s available.

The Stinger is still high on my list of a vehicle to purchase, but its still a tough sell for me due to expected depreciation, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, and Kia is not really helping the situation. In fact I'm seeing more G70s on the road than I am seeing Stingers, and apparently you can't even negotiate price for Genesis vehicles? Says further to the perceived value of the two cars.

Which would be odd as besides having been on the market longer, the Stinger still outsells the G70.

I came from a 2015 KIA K900, last time I seen one of those was at the dealership. I been seeing a increasing amount of Stingers on the roads, don’t think we nothing to worry about. The Stinger is KIA’s Hero car and they know it.

I've seen it happen in my town over the past few years, as house values started to rise, those with home equity started spending it like disposable income to fund renovations, boats, and most noticeably, cars! And when someone on the block gets a shiny new Audi, BMW, whatever, the neighbors soon get the itch too and start pulling the trigger. Shiny new SUVs, trucks, the odd tesla and convertible popping up everywhere.

Unfortunately when it comes to keeping up with the Joneses, a KIA won't quite cut it in the art of one-up-manship. It's weak ammo as a conversation piece. They were a little slow with their timing on entering the premium market, but they're absolutely ripping out of the gate with the Stinger. It'll take time to shift perception of the brand, but in the meantime it gives those who are willing to dig beneath the badge a great deal on a car of this caliber, especially in Canada.

If I'm not mistaken, the "GT2 +AWD" trim in the US and the "Limited" trim in Canada are similarly equipped, and both priced @ ~$52k USD/CAD.

$52k USD is currently $67.6k CAD, so we're getting a $15k discount, and wireless charging and 360 cam.

You've got your head down the gift horse's mouth already, so if you want to get in on this before the masses wise up, now's your chance.

How do the warranties compare?

I don't think they needed incentives. The GT Limited is less in CAD than USD, while being better equipped. That's unheard of.

They could do more to promote it though.

Weren't there only about 200 cars in all of canada for the intial delivery?

200 cars per month isn't that bad, actually. Remember the USA has about 9x the population of canada, and they're moving 1500 units a month. Remember this isn't a high volume car, it's a high-end luxury car from a non-high-end brand. It'll take some time to establish a reputation.

The warranty is not the same

No one is paying $52k for a GT2 in the US, more like $42K. Now how does that compare? Might be a wash.
