Stinger Brake Pads Replacement

I would've thought that the fronts would wear faster but the rears wore much faster. I'd be curious why that'd be the case for the Stinger.
A lot of newer cars now exhibit this wear pattern. I think it has a lot to do with advanced traction control and ABS. Also, Stingers use brakes for torque vectoring as well.

At 59,900'ish kms I had my 4th free replacement warranty rotors (all 4) installed by Kia. (pulsation again).

Same day - I installed Centric pads all around. (from Rock Auto)
It has been about 3000 kms so far - and everything is perfectly smooth, and silent, and similar to OEM friction performance for commuting. Pehaps these Centric pads would be bad at a racetrack - but this is my commuting car :)

Centric 105.10010 - front (generic -with no extra weights)
Centric 105.60410 - rear (vehicle specific - with weights) Does anyone know of a Centric pad part number (generic) that fits the rear?

update.

Now have 10,000kms on these centric pads - zero noise - and zero pulsation.

That’s good to hear! I ended up installing EBC red stuff in the front and centric posi-quiet in the rear.
Haven’t had any issues yet with both and it’s been approximately 5,000km.

I'm thinking about doing the same.
Compared to OEM, how's dust issue with EBC Red stuff?
Do you feel like it performs better than OEM? Better initial bite?

Much better than the OEM! My front OEM pad turns out it had over 50% life left but i decided to change them….
No issues with dust on both the EBC red stuff and the posi quiet. I haven’t experienced any squeal issues either.

Now have 20,000kms on these centric pads - zero noise - and zero pulsation.

Quite happy

That’s awesome! I’m happy with the posi quiets in the rear and EBC red stuff in the front.

How is the wear for you so far?

Can you confirm did you put Centric front pads with part number 105.10010 on the front of a Stinger GT with Brembos? Or do you have the 4cyl brakes?

I haven't looked.

I am guessing that only 20,000kms would be hardly noticeable (especially if looking through my steel winter rims)

Yes - Brembos

Virtually any brake pad with the "1001" pad shape will fit in the fronts.

This pad shape

With the powerstop z26 I have a thunk sound when shifting between forward and reverse and braking once between those changes in direction (the pad is shifting in the caliper). This phenomenon is pretty well documented in a lot of car forums. For those of you with the EBC redstuff, have you had that experience?

I went with centric front and back, with the stock pads I kept getting pulsing that I'd have to aggressively re-bed the brakes to remove, haven't had it happen at all with the centrics.

I do occasionally get a single squeak when backing out of my garage, mostly if my previous drive was wet.

Very similar for me , but I went even cheaper and used the generic 1001 front pads without the weights

I have not had any noise or pulsation with this setup over the part 20,000kms they have been installed.

I used:
Front - Centric 10510010 (no weights
Rear - Centric 10560410 (same as you, with weights)

Hi Nova Scotia Stinger, do you still have your front pads? Wanna sell them to me in Toronto area and I can pay shipping too?

Now that's a first...
Not knocking it, just saying it's a first
I'm all for reduce, reuse, recycle.

I have some OEM pads with. 60,000kms on them, that you can have (I doubt you want them)

I put the z26 pads in this weekend and I have no thunk sounds at all. they are blissfully silent. Are you sure the retaining clip is in correctly?

My powerstop Z26 do the same thing, installed by someone who knows what they're doing. It may have to do with whether the OE brembo pin that holds the pad to the caliper was re-used, or if the powerstop one was used. I don't recall which my installer chose to do, but I do recall have a quick conversation with them about it. As you learned doing some reading online, this doesn't impact the braking function or as far as I can tell any long term impacts/longevity issues.

I used the brembo pin and they are seated properly and clip is good. Just weird. I read on some BMW forums these pads do the same thing on their cars.

@Snowwhite Did you use the factory shim or just what come with z26s?

I did not reuse the factory shims, retaining clips, or the factory pins, except for one pin that wouldn’t hammer in, so I used the factory one on that one.
i did use CRC disc brake quiet on the backs of the pads (a very sticky red goo you spray from a can) and ceramic brake lube on the sides of the pad backing plates and the touch points on the retaining clips and pins.
