STILLEN Performance Intake - Ready for Purchase - Video included

Stillen needs someone on board to properly handle public communications, and likely production management - they are taking a beating to their reputation with a string of broken promises. I wasn't familiar with the company previously, though I'd heard people talk favorably about previous products - but I've certainly got a bad opinion of them now, from this debacle.

People are more than willing to accept delays, or production issues that need to be solved, but they need to be kept informed and not repeatedly strung along by false promises. For all I know, their intake could be an excellent product with minor fitment issues that have since been resolved - but who's to know?

Their PR has been abysmal, and they are digging a hole it's going to take a while to get out of.

No.

It's been a month since their install video was allegedly filmed. They haven't posted here since two days after.

They made their money and moved on.
I agree Stillen is full of shit i am so dissapointed in them...WOW

If it was nissan they would of never went this route LOL they dont care simple as that

Yea their Instagram is like 98% Nissan/Infiniti. I'm guessing you've noticed that as well.

Here is the installation video you've all been waiting for. I apologize for the wait.

What’s this about a redesigned part and how do I get it if I already purchased the intake (haven’t installed it yet)

Did you have to redesign some parts of the intake for proper fitment??

That is how they started in the mid 90s. Steve Millen (retired Nissan race driver) and Nissan signed a deal in which Nissan gave Millen exclusive rights to make and produce aftermarket parts for their vehicles. It went as far as them having their own Special Limited edition vehicle (the 300ZX SMZ).

I've done the install twice, and watching the video it doesn't look like they changed anything.

The issues were overblown because of the shoddy paper installation instructions. I was frustrated the first time around, I had to figure out the nuances with the bolt holes for the driver's side shroud (you don't reuse the one from the intake duct), reversing hoses, getting proper clearances, etc.

This is my opinion but the Stillen intakes are still the best value. K&N, Injen systems are nice but the shrouding on these is probably more effective bringing air in from outside the engine bay. JT intakes are absolutely gorgeous but they're also a lot of money.

I'm excited to see any of the available intakes paired with the Velosa intake snorkels, and SSR's new CAI. But I'm going to stick with these for the foreseeable future.

I vehemently disagree. When one brand takes 25 minutes to install and another takes 2 hours there is an issue.
They have issues with the end of the piping that attaches to the filters.
They have issues when it comes to fitting the driver's side components around the radiator hoses.

I could go on and on about this thing, but it needs to be redesigned.

So I installed this last night. Took me 2 hours but I'm no wrench. The video helped tremendously, the written instructions might as well been Korean, I didn't even use them. Oddly enough I struggled with the fitment of the heat shields and not with the pipes or hoses. Love the sound. It's still quiet at cruise but definitely more whooshing at aggressive throttle. As you can see I couldn't get the Stillen to be at the same angle.IMG_20181011_194206.webp IMG_20181011_205301.webp

They definitely changed the design of the drivers side aluminum elbow.
They at least changed the placement of the BOV port. Looks like they may have extended it a touch to clear the radiator hose and hopefully made a straight entry into the filter but without a pic of the pipe out of the car I can't be sure.

It definitely got some of the needed revisions from the initial release I got.

Has anyone noticed what seems like a wind buffeting feel or noise with these installed? Like when one has only one window cracked open driving down the highway. I get that feeling most of the time while going about 25 mph or higher.

I installed the intakes a couple of days after getting the car back from the body shop so I don’t know what is causing this. I am going to check the fender liners and anything else I can think of this weekend. I thought about removing the intake heat shields to see if that makes any difference. The body shop replaced the passenger side doors and painted the passenger side of the car. I just hate to pull out the intakes after how irritating they were to install so I thought I’d see if anyone else has noticed this.

I hadn't noticed but I'll listen for it.

I get this stock with one window open in just the right (wrong? LOL) situation. I learned long ago that if I'm going to roll down my window to crack the sunroof or crack the two rear windows. Perhaps that's what you're noticing.

It feels just like that but not as intense. I cracked a window this morning and it made it worse (like you experience). I thought maybe cracking one window would make it better if the body shop didn’t have the car sealed up correctly somewhere. I’m going to check all the seals again then maybe put the stock airboxes back in to see what happens. It’s driving me crazy (crazier). I’m thinking it has to be related to the body shop work.

The post isn’t real clear but I think he is saying this is happening after he installed the intake, but it is happening with the windows closed. I can’t inagine it’s from the intake though.

Yes, exactly. After getting the car back from the body shop and after installing the intake. The more I think about it, the more I can’t see how I’d notice this in the cabin if it was the intake.

I don't hear what you have described. I hear only a slight whooshing when driving normally right at throttle tip in. But nothing during steady cruise.

Is your hood fully latched and staying that way?
