Steering wheel bezel swap

Ah thanks, I haven't seen that version.

Did mine today. I like the look better than the piano black. Took some fiddling to get the air bag off (both the release and screw under the wheel were a bit difficult to get at).
Not sure why the image is sideways.....don't know how to rotate it on here

It is fiddly to get off. I used a long allen key and was a little tenative in getting the springs released.

Any time we can replace a piano black part, its a good thing.

Got the Alcantara wheel today. Looks great. Hoping to get it installed next weekend.

Just replaced mine with CF, and managed to not explode the airbag in the process. Only took about 10 min total thanks to the info here. Thanks as always guys.

Cool, pics? Did you replace just the lower bezel or the trim around the audio and cruise control on the steering wheel as well?

I didn't really like the silver trim on the steering wheel when I 1st saw it but it's actually a better match to the rest of the interior. Plus, when I swapped in the nav and bigger screen, I had gotten a really beat up center dash trim piece (the part that the screen sits in) so I decided to paint it silver. I think it'd look even better with the silver trim instead of the piano black. Not sure about messing with the air bag though.

I didn't like it at first as well, but it grew on me. I have never liked the piano black on the wheel. I was worried about messing with the airbag as well but disconnect the battery and you will be fine. If you did the screen swap, then popping off the airbag pushing the three tabs will be a piece of cake for you. I highly recommend you giving it a try. It goes really well with the rest of the "aluminum" trim.

I wonder if I could find a silver ornament with the GT-Line logo on it.
Could anyone please share the link to where you got yours from?
Thanks!

This is the one I got. When I was searching, I didn't come across any GT-Line versions.

The little GT badge comes off with two screws. You could swap yours out.

You mean you can access it from the back once the 2 pieces are separated?
That would be amazing!
correct. i'll post a photo of the back of the plate tonight

undo this screw and squeeze the little clips on either end and the gt badge will come right out.

Did my swap today and am very excited by the new look.
I struggled a little with popping out the airbag because I was using a thinner screwdriver that somehow went past the metal bar and I was pushing into the plastic case of the airbag. I could not understand how the airbag was not popping out with the amount of force I was applying. Then, I used the screwdriver that came with the car and that worked like a dream. It was super easy.

Looks great! Hoping to get one from the Mrs for Christmas. Goes much better with the silver center console.

I feel like the cars/trims with the gloss black center console (not sure if they are the premium or base model 4 cylinder) should have the gloss black on the wheel. GTS, Scorpion, Grand Touring models with the carbon fiber console should get matching carbon fiber steering wheel trim. Would look better than mixing/matching imo.

I swapped in the better screen/nav into my base gt. I ended up painting the damaged base for the screen a silver color so I think it'd definitely look better with the silver trim in my car.

Did this swap today, when you install the airbag back (I didn't fully disconnect it, just popped in the stuff to release it but left the wires connected) the horn piece seems more sensitive. Not sure how tight it was before but is it possible it's not fully secured? When I reconnected the battery, the air bag light didn't turn stay on so I'm assuming everything else is fine.
