Squeak After Shutting Car Off

Almost 20k miles on my 2019 GT but been hearing the same thing since probably 1k miles. Anyone know if there’s an aftermarket BOV or actuator that resolves this?

Well, tomorrow I'm going to Kia and they are giving me a brand new throttle body. They think it's the butterfly valve on the throttle body. And that's exactly where I can hear the squeek coming from. So I will report back tomorrow night and let all of you know if that was the fix. Fingers crossed

Well I got my brand new throttle body put on and guess what? It's not fixed. It's still squeaking and to be honest I'm a little pissed off at Kia because when they gave me the car back they said the squeak was gone. I jump in my car and turn it on and I blip the throttle and it's still there. They told me to come back in a couple weeks and they will look at it again. I think they don't want me back right away because it would make them look like shit that they replaced a pretty expensive part and it was not the solution.

Thanks for update. That sucks. So maybe it is a wastegate actuator, like some sigested. My only concern if this will lead to some serious problems down the road. At least you got new, and "clean" throttle body.

Hey I have a 2018 2L and had this issue start up for the first time after a canyon run. Goes along with the hard use theory. At 40k miles second owner. Air intakes and bov is all. Glad I’m not alone in this boat of squeakers. Was wondering if anyone has looked at an aftermarket wastegate. Saw the hks gtII I believe and says it fits in stinger but manual says you would need new turbos to touch the wastegate. Thoughts?

I've heard something similar. I'm pretty sure it's the emergency brakes. They automatically engage when you turn off the vehicle.

I’d say I agree if I had it only while parking but specifically when driving too.

Yea hoping for no problems down the road. No boost lost and no codes. Honestly if something bad happens w my turbo I’ll get the upgraded 2.0 one with billet compression blades

It's as if they didn't test drive to confirm the repair. What kinda trash is that.. (also shows how poor their diagnostic skills are).

Two observations I would like to add:

1. I heard the exact same noise when a Mercedes C43 shut off its engine in. I wanted to run up to the person and say... hey we have the same noise lol

2. If I let my Stinger idle for several (3+) minutes before I turn off the engine the noise doesn't happen.

I suspect that the noise is coming from components in turbocharger assembly expanding/contracting at different rates within tight tolerances. Which causes two components to rub during the engine shutdown process. I would assume that when the engine is shut off the waste gate actuator is programmed to return to a set "home" position or engine off position. This might be something that could be fixed within the software. At least that's my hypothesis.

It doesn't seem to effect the performance or durability but definitely annoying. If I'm ever in the mood to get my turbos replaced I know I have a good excuse to fall back on lol.

Based on post #22 - I don't think there is anything to "fix"

That squeal noise is the turbocharger waste gate valve actuating. Both my Stinger and my other Kia Turbo have that very faint squeak when turning off the engine. Barely noticeable really.
