Spark Plug Issue

Wouldn't hurt to do a DIY/How To for others out there as some might just upgrade plugs from K5/8 Store they just added to start selling.
We will be putting together a DIY for spark plug changing on the 3.3T

No. I'm still thinking he had his car chipped and doesn't want us to know about it.

Call me a sceptic.
He's not running the chip! lol

It's clear you're not looking into this and wanting something to point blame at something. The issue seems to rely with the coilpacks since his dealership has ONLY been replacing the plugs and not the coilpack which seems to be the cause behind both stock and chipped plug issues.

It's clear you're not paying attention to what your customers are saying and wanting something else to blame this problem on.

NorcalJohn's car was chipped. That's why I suggested to him to take the chip off until he gets the plugs. They're paying you $600+, the least you could do is keep up with what is going on instead of lashing out at someone who is trying to save them a headache.

Spewing out speculations is fair though right?

And don’t you think we are working directly with our customers? Just because you don’t see it on here doesn’t mean we are calling, responding to emails and helping customers through this?

How many hours this week have you spent talking with Kia understanding this issue?

Oh and I was referring to your response and constant denial of mjothree and the fact that he ISNT running the chip but you keep denying what’s he’s saying, speculating he’s hiding something...

Also NorcalJohn is running with the new plugs now and running fine... I’m failing to see where we aren’t paying attention to our customers?

You have an understanding problem.

NorcalJohn's post said:

"Getting pretty bad stuttering up top under heavy boost with chip, intake, exhaust and HKS Bov setup ... I have HKS plugs showing up Monday to hopefully solve the problem."

My reply said:

"Take the chip off until you get the new plugs."

That isn't "spewing our speculations". I'm trying to save him the headache of dealing with what so many others have dealt with. I get that you're feeling a little testy about your shitty LAP3 possibly (probably) breaking people's cars but don't come here barking at me for trying to help someone.

I'm not on your payroll. I don't sell LAP3 products. I'm not about to pretend all is well when there's obviously a correlation between a product you're selling and problems with people's cars. If someone comes here and says they're running the chip and having problems, like John did, I'm going to suggest they remove the chip. Simple as that.

Where's David? Maybe he should be handling this issue for you.

Also NorcalJohn is running with the new plugs now and running fine... I’m failing to see where we aren’t paying attention to our customers?

I said you weren't paying attention because you didn't even know he was running the chip. Your exact words were "he's not running the chip! Lol"

Well, contrary to what you thought you knew, he WAS running the chip. Which is why I suggested he stop.

It's elementary, Paul.

Everyone can see that you went back and edited your original post to remove that bit about John's car not being chipped.

Truth is you jumped down my throat without knowing all the facts and when I pointed them out you decided to edit your post.

Another truth is I have nothing to gain or lose from telling people to remove the chip when they experience problems. You, on the other hand have plenty to gain from saying it's all Kia's fault and just as much to lose from anyone pointing the finger at you and LAP3 for selling faulty shit.

I think you're not understanding. But I change my original post to clear things up.

I removed my quote referencing NorcalJohn, I'm not talking about him at all. i know hes running the chip, had problem, and we corrected it with the upgraded plugs.

The OP mjothree you've trolled his entire thread post from the start. My last comment was related to him NOT NorcalJohn
Here are YOUR comments about the OP who is NOT running the chip at all and having issues:

The only misunderstanding is about NorcalJohn. I incorrectly quoted that and therefore removed it. I'm free to admit it so please lets move on, my comment above was related ONLY to your postings towards the OP; mjothree.

I know the Lap3 isnt crap, and I'm sorry you feel that way. We are in full support of our customers and finding (found) a solution to misfiring and issues. I take my job seriously but when someone trys to deface a product we sell with no warrant or information to back their claims it seems silly to me, especially when we are going to great lengths to help the community.

Obviously you feel differently about our product and maybe I can't change that but let's be mature about this please.

saying it's all Kia's fault and just as much to lose from anyone pointing the finger at you and LAP3 for selling faulty shit.
I never said this was Kia's fault but if you want to make that assumption again I cant change that. Originally I was simply pointing out that there can be many factors to look into in this situation. We found what we believe is a solution (upgrade spark plugs) and only time will tell. I know the upgraded spark plugs are a fix pending any possible coilpack issues on Kia's end (again not blaming Kia, just making a point because it is a possibility).

You edited your post because you erroneously accused me of blaming the chip on his problems. After I educated you your eyes opened and you deleted what you originally wrote so everyone who read the tread wouldn't see it.

My last comment was related to him NOT NorcalJohn

If I've said it once I've said it twice. You're a liar whose trying to cover his tracks. I won't even bother explaining it anymore.

Here are YOUR comments about the OP who is NOT running the chip at all and having issues:

Yea, so?

I still don't believe him. What's your point? Again, I'm not employed by you, Kia, or LAP3, therefore I'm not obligated to pretend something is rosey when it isn't. If it walks and quacks like a duck it's a duck.

The only misunderstanding is about NorcalJohn.

Yes, which sparked this entire conversation.

I'mfree to admit it so please lets move on

You didn't honestly think that editing your post would make me behave like it never happened, did you?

but when someone trys to deface a product we sell

I didn't "daface" your product (originally). I suggested to John that he remove it until he got new plugs. In essence I did for him what you should have done.

with no warrant orinformation to back their claims it seems silly to me

Oh, you silly man. I'm not acting on "no warrant information". 41 Stinger owners weighed in on this poll. Not one single person said they experienced plug issues without a chip. NOT ONE!

*[Link removed by moderators. Screenshot of poll posted on page 5 post #100]*

Conversely, 40% of those with a chip said they experienced issues.

let's be mature about this please.

Oh we're being mature now, since you deleted the little bit of your post where you incorrectly accused me of speculations? So if say something negative about you and then delete it I guess I can just say "hey I edited the post, let's be mature"? Is that how this maturity thing works in your world?

Man you like to argue, I was trying to get on topic but I guess there is no going back. Lol

You win! Have a great day

Well that was fun. So spark plugs...what’s that all about?
I know right...

Sorry you had to see that. Upgraded plugs are doing well in the hands of the customers now.

Well be doing a DIY for plug removal on the 3.3T soon as it looks like the intake manifold needs to be removed to change one side of the engine.

Stay posted!

Lets clear things up a bite here. I'm a certified Kia tech. I'm not taking side on this. People are having spark plugs fail without a chip and there are people having thr same people with the chip. I believe the coil is the cause of the spark plugs failing out.

Thanks Hung, sort of the point I was trying to make.

Heh...in summary, according to the below poll if you Install a LAP3 on your car you have a pretty good chance of breaking it. (the actual results are 50% but some idiot (it was me) voted incorrectly)

poll.webp

Upgrading the plugs may limit the possibility of the issue happening.

Caveat emptor.
