We've had att fiber here for over 4 years now. Rates fluctuated each year depending what kind of discount I could negotiate with their loyalty dept. This is where calls gets transferred when you say "cancel service" to their ivr.
Over the last year I was at $39.99. Back in march the $30 discount fell off. This time trying to renegotiate with loyalty dept resulted in nothing. They kept referring to their "straight forward" pricing each time I called ( at least 4 since march), telling me i'm getting their best rate. Over on another site someone suggested reaching out to them using twatter or fb. I chose the latter as I don't have the former.
At first I was offered a $20 discount, but rather than giving in to the first offer I asked about the $30. After some time she came back saying that could be applied. So, why couldn't the same be offered when I called in? I don't care much for either of these platforms, but if I can save $$$, why not. The only caveat now is fb knows about my att account. Given the last post on fb was probably 7 years ago or more, my profile can't be too informative.
tl;dr If you don't get the results you want using regular channels, try social media.
/rant off.
