3.3TT So, I broke my engine

Everything I said is true lol. The motor didnt grenade becase it was faulty. It blew up because of what you did, if that wasnt the case you wouldn't of taken off everything, including your stickers LOL
You're clueless really.

You're clueless really.
Please tell me what is clueless. You literally admitted to running full bolt on and a custom jb4 tune with meth. I have tuned and owned more cars than you can imagine. I have never blown up a motor or melted a freaking spark plug. I also never reverted a car back to stock after modifying it so the manufacturer would fix it. I fix anything I break. Pay to play.
You just say im an idiot and clueless when in reality you just dont have the guts to admit the truth. Im glad you left the stinger before you blew up another one. Its people like you that make manufacturer warranty claims impossible for lying about what happened.

You went into the dealer knowing what you did. You probably said "no idea what happened, it's bone stock"

I guess morals arent strong in this thread
Nope. TBH, you’re beating a dead horse.

Regardless of what people say online or to the contrary behind their screens and keyboards, if they mod and something goes catastrophically wrong, if they are in a position to revert to stock to try to get one over on the manufacturer, they’re going to try it.

Similar to you, I’ve owned and modded more cars than I have fingers and toes to count, and on all of their respective forums, you run across people who push the envelope. Something happens, and suddenly they disappear from the forum for weeks or months. To pop back up later to say something went wrong, and they reverted to stock to sneak one by the dealer and didn’t want to be tracked online if they were openly speaking about things as they were happening.

Yes, it’s wrong, but that’s the reality. Pay to play only comes into the equation once you get caught. Coming at someone online about it isn’t going to change anything or future behaviors.

I think most people would try to screw the man. We are modifying low end cars here. I mean 50k is a lot, don't get me wrong, but most of us probably can't eat a 10k bill to fix the car when we screw it up, because we can barely afford the car and the mods to begin with. Morally it is wrong, but 99% of us would do the same thing...IMO. Don't know what I would do. I hope I'm never faced with that dilemma. Not saying it is right by any means, just that it's not surprising.

Thats the problem in it all. If you cant afford to fix it dont buy it to mod it

Why do people prefer a piggyback vs an ECU tune? Because they can revert it when they go to the dealer.
There are a certain number of people who broke their trans or engine, they just don't say it. I do. But I am the one being dishonest? Well I guess it depends on which angle you look at things. Those people who brake their car, most of them try to get warranty work. That's just how the world is.

Nobody gives a shit that somewhere, there is a little man being offended by this reality, because he would never try to take advantage of the warranty once he tunes the car.

Now tell me, what if something related to the powertrain starts to break and you had a piggyback on. Is it your fault? Pay to play? Is it their job to fix it?
I ran 100% meth just like most folks who run big numbers on this platform. Saying "you broke the engine because you ran 100% meth" is making yourself look like a fool. Don't expect to look smart when you say dumb things.

I always did proper maintenance on this car, always very careful how I tuned it, always checking how it runs, trying things with a logic. What happened to the engine is not a common failure and it just came out of nowhere. We can make some assumptions about the factors that may have contributed, but it isn't an obvious result of these factors.

Also, who says I don't have the money to fix it? I probably spent 3 or 4 times the money you spent on your car. Having the money and willing to spend it, is a different thing. Not everyone is living on the edge with their bank account. Again another dumb assumption.

So if you are so sure meth didnt cause it then why did you take EVERYTHING off the car?... oh wait because the chances it wasn't your fault are pretty much 0.

Saying meth caused a lean condition and literally melted your spark plug is the most true thing in this thread. I was just stating you blew it up and you got mad I brought it up. Nothing I said was out of reason or out on a whim.
I never said you didnt have the money, but you sure didnt open your wallet.
The stinger is my daily, the C63 sits in the garage ;)

I took everything off because I didn't want them to use that an excuse to refuse to do warranty work, related to the failure or not. That's also what most people would do. Quite easy to understand for most, but apparently not for you.

Had they refused to fix it? Then I would have fixed it with my money. I used my time and effort to revert everything back to stock, had to tow the car to the dealership. If they didn't grant warranty work that would have been wasted efforts because I fixed it myself I could have left all mods on. I took a risk, it worked, good for me, end of the story.

Also you keep repeating thats its my fault, but the truth is you're just a p*ssy afraid of running meth. Have fun with your slow car.

I don't have much patience for trolls on the internet, sorry. I hoped to keep this thread full of useful info for the community, but it seems that some people don't know how to keep their judgment for themselves.

Hey this has been a very interesting thread. Good for you for stepping up to the plate and sharing your story. As for the controversy well dealerships pull the wool over consumers on a regular basis so again good for you for getting one over on them. Ya didn’t even the score but ya scratched back a bit for our side. Cheers:thumbup:

Yes I believe dealers will get all they can from the consumers, if they could they would sell for MSRP all the time and they will sell you a defective vehicle.

You blew up your stinger and sold it LOL. Have fun with whatever you picked up. This p*ssy will break out the C63 lets do some flash light drags, just dont blow up your car again

That'll have to wait, with the Pacific Ocean between. :D

@xot1 much respect to you for starting this thread and respectfully dodging all the inquiries about how much you paid for repairs that nearly derailed the thread.

All too often when things go catastrophically bad people just disappear. It’s cool that you posted these points of failure for others to see. Thank you.
EXACTLY! THANK YOU!

Now that months have passed and that I don't own the car anymore it doesn't matter if I say it, so here it is. Since many people asked how much it cost me.
I got the car fixed under warranty. I reverted all mods and brought the car in 100% stock. So I got the engine block replaced for free.
I reverted all mods, even stickers, cosmetic mods, the plugs, the ecu, everything that could even spark the idea that I may have done some mods to thay car (it may have been overkill but I didn't want to take any chance). If it was to happen again would they fix it for free again? Probably not. I also may have been lucky.
DANG! Well thanks for being honest and spilling the beans (although some seem to have harsh words... like they work for a dealer...?? :cautious:)
