Hi guys,
My 2018 Stinger is due for an upgrade. I've read the comments on exhaust but Iam still not sure which way to go...was thinking of going with the Borla but not sur....is it really that loud that it disturbs the neighbors....sounds the its odds on favourite for deep sound ..

I have the borla exhaust and it sounds awesome, it's only loud if you want it to be, looknormal driving it's just fine, unless you're just sitting in your driveway revving your motor your neighbors won't even really notice

Here is a video I took today going up a road. I think it sounds good but it's subjective. It is the Borla.

I have the Borla exhaust, and can confirm it's really loud, but sounds amazing. If I had to do it over again though, I'd get the MBRP exhaust instead since it still sounds great without being as loud. I think it's cheaper too.
So, other than the price your ok with the Borla exhaust? Did you purchase your exhaust locally through tdot performance?

Who supplied your Borla catback exhaust, was it Tdot performance? or you got it shipped across the border

I actually bought it from Motorwise - they had a discount code going at the time. But you can check out partsengine and tdotperformance

I'm still kind of on the fence about how loud it is, but as the others have said, a little bit of throttle control helps to keep it manageable. The tone of the exhaust is also incredible when you floor it. If this is your first rodeo with an aftermarket exhaust (it was for me), I'd also recommend looking into getting aftermarket tips. It helps manage the amount of resonance in the cabin, which seems to be a recurring issue for all aftermarket exhausts. Just make sure to get 51mm ID tips if you decide to pursue it; although the Borla site says that the exhaust is 2.25" wide, it actually shrinks to 2" on the end.

I have the Borla and I love it. Sounds amazing. However, I gotta disagree about the neighbors not noticing. Cold start is LOUD! It tones down after 15 seconds or so but if you have close neighbors, It'll get their attention. I keep my garage closed when I start it in the morning. Funny story..My buddy and I were going to play golf early one morning last year. He met me at my place as we were gonna drive to the course together. Stinger was parked outside as I didn't have a garage yet. He was putting his clubs in the hatch when I cold started it. Immediately we noticed 2 people in different apartments looking out the window. This is at like 630am...on a Saturday :cautious:. My buddy is verrrry conservative and he just buried his face in his hands...laughing really hard :D. I heard him say under his breath " OMG... I never thought I'd be part of something like this". He's now a huge Stinger fan. Here's a video of a cold start..mine sounds exactly like the orange one. First minute or so is the stock Stinger exhaust. Then the Sema exhaust (probably custom built) then the Orange with the Borla which sounds wayyyyy better IMO.

 Yes the Orange Stinger Sounds much better than the other two....love it.
Going easy with the throttle does the trick! Make sense keeping the stock if I cant go with a Borla exhaust...in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback

Borla is best sounding exhaust. Agree on the cold start for the initial 10-20 seconds. I also keep my garage door closed not that it helps much. One thing no one has mentioned is the cabin drone, I definitely noticed it when I had mine installed. Didn't mind it when I was driving by myself, but with a passenger or my kids in the back I could tell they were bothered. It's worst at low RPM, I think it was between 2300-3k. So if you're in ECO on the HWY you'll be in drone land. To remedy new tips are a must! I cannot stress that enough. They reduce cabin drone down to almost nothing. Lot of people have also had success with Dynamat, so I did that on the entire trunk and now drone is non-existant. Tips are easier and quicker fix, so start there and see if you're happy. If not, Dynamat to complete the package. Of all the exhaust I've heard Borla is loudest and best sounding. Gives a nice throaty growl at all RPM. In my opinion that's how it should come off the lot.

I have the f’n unicorn Borla then.

zero drone.

OEM tips (powder coated black)

self installed... spent a lot of time ensuring clearance all the way around the exhaust (especially near the cross brace).

sound has deepened over the year or so.

Go with a EVC best of both worlds but pricey

Yeah this seems to be true with all the aftermarket systems that significantly increase sound. I did Dynamat and also the drone fix recommended on this site. Cheap and easy. Worked great and no drone. Replacing the tips is definitely the simpler option though.

Yeah, been thinking about that. Was contemplating either the jun bl or gt-9. Just hard to justify getting another aftermarket exhaust despite already having one that honestly sounds great. Maybe a really pissed off neighbor would sway me, but I've luckily haven't had the displeasure... Yet haha

I love the sound of the orange one also some deletes but not all the time. Took a 10 hr road trip a few weeks ago and loved having valves closed and quiet on highway at 80 to 90mph

I purposefully bought mine used with about 7k miles because ppl said drone went away with age, and I still heard it. I mean, it is subjective, maybe it was too loud for me, but there was a portion of the RPM band where it was pulling at my ears. The underside of the rear acts like an echo chamber and the sound just resonates too much down there, especially since there's barely any soundproofing. (Thanks for saving us a $100 on MSRP by not soundproofing Kia! :) So the tips move the soundwave behind the car, and the dynamat makes it quieter in the cabin overall. Now it's a pleasant ride for me, but still loud with the roof or windows open to enjoy.

I hear you. Funny enough, it's not super loud on the highway. With the drone delete and cruising at 80 at 2000 rpm it isn't even noticeable. Yesterday I was getting on the highway behind a WRX with some god awful loud exhaust. We both got on it and I couldn't even hear the borla...his just drowned it out lol. Although I could only go half throttle or I would've slammed into the back of him
