Should I install a Borla exhaust

sound has deepened over the year or so.
Yeah I've had mine for 9 months or so and it definitely gets deeper. Nice growl not whiny or tinny sounding. I was close to returning it after 2 days because I thought it was too loud. Then I installed the sound deadening and it's perfect...on the inside. If your worried about other people around you then yeah...it might be too loud for some. I personally love it and I wouldn't trade it for another system.

Hi guys,
My 2018 Stinger is due for an upgrade. I've read the comments on exhaust but Iam still not sure which way to go...was thinking of going with the Borla but not sur....is it really that loud that it disturbs the neighbors....sounds the its odds on favourite for deep sound ..
My advice...get the Borla...install the tips...lay down some sound deadening in the trunk...start it up....and be stoked!:)

I might go this route..I know you said in the cabin it isn't bad, but how is it for passengers in the rear?

I can also let you know this weekend. Another awesome local stinger owner is going to install for me tomorrow night so I will probably do a tad bit of driving this weekend! Tips are going to come at least 30+ days out unless I get em local.

"What's that honey? You need to go to costco? I can do it for you!..... You're right, I have never gone once in our entire marriage but let me do this one favor for you....." 7 hours later.... "Oh NOT the one 367 miles away but the one 2 blocks away?.... Why didn't you say so....?"

P.S. the trunk space on this thing with the seats down is still amazing.

Not bad at all. Before I did the sound deadening and wrapped the tips it was loud. Huge difference with those small modifications. I’ve had several people ride in the back seat and we can talk without raising our voices no problem. Pair the Borla with Injen intakes and the car absolutely screams!

Oh.... I was saving that for ANOTHER trip but.....

The Borla sounds really good when paired with the Jun BL Downpipes...

Any updates on your borla? I got mine along with the jun bl downpipes and AI tips. Drone is terrible! Definitely going to be installing some mats

love the sound though.

I am fairly drone free. There is a slight drone when I hit 71-73mph in comfort but not so much in sport. @343BlueR32 installed the same exhaust on his. When we both installed the exhaust, we both made note that the passenger side exhaust is fractions away from touching the metal frame near the rear. I mean we probably couldn't fit a penny in the gap. I would imagine that improper installation would have that touching the frame & creating the drone effect.

He also seated his exhaust back (sits further into the stock tips) a bit further than mine as well as lined his trunk. It's noticeably more silent than mine but again, it doesn't seem to be droning as much as it's dumping some noise into the trunk/passenger side.

I can't imagine how much louder the downpipes made it. I am good with just the catback though. I am plenty annoying to my neighbors.

Thanks for the feedback. That should help a lot.

As @ggace said, I originally installed his and it sounded really good. So much so I bought one like 2 weeks later.

I installed mine and it had a lot more drone. I remembered a lot of threads on here saying because the exhaust didn't dump as far back as the original (hence why adding aftermarket tips seems to help get rid of most drone.

So I used the play in the Borla components and shifted the muffler section of the exhausts back as far as the rear hangers would let me. Literally put my foot on the muffler, pushed towards the back of the car, then tightened the clamp bolts. The difference in drone was astonishing. So I recommend that to anyone having serious drone as a first step.

I did sound deadening in the trunk a few days later just because I have a toddler in the back and wanted it quiet for him when I wasn't on it and loud for me when I do get on it. I'd say it's perfect for a DD when not going 65 or so mph for long periods of time.

Thanks man, I’ll give all these suggestions a shot!

Borla is best sounding exhaust. Agree on the cold start for the initial 10-20 seconds. I also keep my garage door closed not that it helps much. One thing no one has mentioned is the cabin drone, I definitely noticed it when I had mine installed. Didn't mind it when I was driving by myself, but with a passenger or my kids in the back I could tell they were bothered. It's worst at low RPM, I think it was between 2300-3k. So if you're in ECO on the HWY you'll be in drone land. To remedy new tips are a must! I cannot stress that enough. They reduce cabin drone down to almost nothing. Lot of people have also had success with Dynamat, so I did that on the entire trunk and now drone is non-existant. Tips are easier and quicker fix, so start there and see if you're happy. If not, Dynamat to complete the package. Of all the exhaust I've heard Borla is loudest and best sounding. Gives a nice throaty growl at all RPM. In my opinion that's how it should come off the lot.
What tips did you install?

Hey stEGr,

Do you have an order number or link to the Akrapovic oval carbon fiber tips?

Thanks,

George

These are the tips I have been seeing to order. I just went ahead and took a shot at them. Hopefully they are right for the stock diffuser and the Borla.
