Has anyone else bought this accessory?
Inside Door Handle Garnish Cover Hairline Metal Silver For KIA 2017-2018 Stinger | eBay

In the regular configuration of the Stinger, the inside door handles have a black plastic recessed cup behind them. I bought the brushed chrome plates to dress things up a bit. However, the plates are too large to fit into the back of the cups; instead, they are the same size as front of the opening.

That would be fine if the plates can be securely attached to the cups, but as far as I can tell, that's not possible. It's also puzzling that even though the back of the plates would have to sit about an inch away from the back of the cup, there is double-sided tape on the back of each plate. There's nothing for them to attach to.

This is a puzzle whose solution eludes me. Any ideas about how to install the plates would be most appreciated!

I didn't sticked my plates in tiburon although I could because there is a screw holding the cups and without that door panel can not be removed.
And how did I do it?
I cut a rough shape of 0,5mm thick sheet metal and fixed it with sylicone to the door handle cups. Then I sticked magnets on the led plates so this is all that holds my plates. I used magnets that come on small decorative pictures, badges you normally put on the fridge as only those were the right shape and easy to find.
Since stinger doesn't have flat back on those handle cups you will have to custom made something to fit in and fix it so plates can be installed on top of it. I think MDF board would best material to use as it's easy to shape.

@ToscaniCustoms, thank you for your reply and advice.

Seems surprising that someone would make and sell a product that requires so much DIY fabrication.

Is size of the plates also incorrect or is there just a problem with curved shape of the handle cups?
If manufacturer of these plates would make some extra parts that would need to be fitted first it would probably cost to much and they simply don't want to bother with this. All such plates are just flat pieces of aluminium or plastic regardless of what shape handle cups are on certain car model. They let the customer figure out how to install it and this is the case with many aftermarket accessories.

The plates pretty much fit the front opening of the handle cup.

Yeah, understandable that aftermarket accessories can require customers to figure out how to make them work. This one's probably not worth my time.

Hopefully this thread can serve as a heads-up warning for other owners considering buying this accessory.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
How about double sided tape in the handle area either side of screw. Stick magnets to that and have the other magnet glues to metal plate insert. You use the thin magnet you get for fridges.
That way you can remove easy and still access screw for handle removal.

I requested a refund just now. Don’t wanna mess with it

Thank you for the info, @Devang Patel.

Bummer news. I thought it might look good.

Unless an easy and clean solution appears, I'm not inclined to mess with it either.

Thank you for the suggestion, @AV8R. :)

I noticed some eBay suppliers have different shaped ones.

I knew these things were not going to fit properly, yet I still bought 'em . Blame it on the new car hype.
