For those who have replaced their own pads on the Brembo calipers, how difficult was it? How did you compress the pistons to get room for the newer pads? Did it require the special tool?
Tim
Thanks,

I used a punch to push the pins out. You could do it with a screw driver but you risk scraping the paint.

For compressing the pistons I just got a good handle on the pads and push them in. They weren't too hard to move.

I ordered a set of Girodisc magic brake pads and I guess I will order a new set of stock rotors and see if this resolves this issue longer term. Looks like it will not be very difficult to switch out. Not up to a big fight with Kia and the dealer for a temporary fix.

I had Kia fix my rotors and put the Girodiscs on right after. I followed Girodisc's bedding procedure. Ive got maybe 1250 miles on the setup and haven't had a problem (yet). The real test will be how they are doing at the 10k mark.

Brembo makes the pads ridiculously easy to change. It'll take you longer to remove the wheels than to remove the pads.

Also, where did you order these brake pads?

Well that's more amusing than you could know..

Damn was wondering why we just got 3 orders of Girodisc pads

That's a good thing! I hope it will solve the problem, long term, for me.

Anyone remember where you put your jack stands to support the car? I have a hydraulic jack and stands, gonna lift with the jack but I am wondering where to put the jack stand? Anyone remember what the put the jack stand under?

Youre going to want to set them on the pinch weld

Where is the pinch weld? Is it something suspension components or subframes are mounted to? I just want to be safe and not damage the car. Hydraulic jack will be used under the jack point.

Oh yeh the pinch weld is that seem running down the side of the car. I can lift the car up there with the jack. I usually put the jack stand under a sub frame or control arm mount point. Nowhere to put he jack stand there with the hydraulic jack holding the car there.

Is a hydraulic jack like the one above stable enough to use for changing the brake pads? I usually lift it up, put a jack stand under a sub frame or something and gently lower down. I won't be getting under the car.

I think the question is, where can you safely lift from to put a jack stand under the pinch weld.
