Replacing brake pads question-special tools?

Correct. I looked at it today and I can see the jack points and there is a small opening right there I presume to put a lift or jack in. I am hoping it is side enough to get jacked up with either a floor jack or the jack in the trunk and then set the jack stand right beside it and gently lower it onto the jack stand for stability while I change out pads. I did not see anywhere under the car to put the jack stand without removing the cover under the power train area.

You're over thinking this. Put the cup of the jack stand toward the end of the exposed pinch weld. Then put the jack under the pinch weld and lower the car. Repeat the process on the other side. It's super simple.

So there is nothing special as far as thicker or stronger bracing in that area.? directly in front of or behind that area will hold the car on a jack stand?

I mean, I haven't conducted any tests but I've done it probably 10 times using the method I've described and I haven't been crushed...yet.

I guess I am over-thinking it, but I've got two different sizes of jack stands and neither would allow a regular jack to get anywhere close to the exposed jack point while they were in place. They simply occupy the same space.

What I've done with other vehicles is use the jack under the lower control arm to lift the corner, then put a jack stand under the lift point on the chassis rails.
