I have had my wheels "Dipped" for 8 months now and while I love the look of the OEM wheels in Black the downside is that the bead edge around the wheel peels off when the tires are compressed when hittingdip2.webp dip1.webp dip3.webp bumps/pot holes etc ............I have decided to "Paint" my wheels now as a more durable and permanent fix .....................over the last 2 days I have removed all the PD and now am back to the stock 2 tone machined/painted OEM wheel ( Centre caps are still black ) ..............Just a heads up to anyone considering "dipping" their wheels , yes the stuff does come off , in fact about 75% peals off quite easily , BUT you will likely encounter some spots where it doesnt peel , I found that paint thinnner does the trick . Apply it to the residual PD and rub it off with a cloth or paper towel , I would budget about 1/2 hr per wheel to completeing remove the PD ...............heres some pics of what the beads looked like on mine , looks like curb rash , unacceptable !!

Did you try high pressure water?

Yes, curb rash is what it looks like alright. Bleh!:P I look forward to seeing the freshly painted black wheels. (That plastic dip looks more grey than black in your pics.)

They were black , just the way it was shot I guess , plus they were filthy ! I have the paint ordered , the store does a customer pick at curbside to eliminate instore visits !

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I was just in this boat, hopefully my experience helps. I was removing brass monkey dip from the stock wheels that had some light areas that would just flake and not peel off.

Fonzie of DYC is a very charismatic and passionate guy on the YouTubes, but save yourself $30+shipping for his magic removal spray and go to the local big box and get yourself a bottle of GooGone spray and a cheap brush or rags that you won’t need again.

Spray the GooGone all over the dip, wait 5-10 minutes for it to do its thing, then start scrubbing/wiping. Once all the dip is broken down, hit it with the pressure washer. I washed the rims with dish soap afterward to eliminate the oily citrus residue and in order to prep them to re-dip.

Also, when you dip, use more product than you think you need. 6-7 heavy coats is optimal so that it is easily pealable later. The kits, especially the matte ones, are pretty underwhelming in terms of achievable coverage. Ex: only four cans in the brass monkey kit, when I used 8 cans this last go round.
