Didn't Kia Souls from like 2012~ has issues with catching on fire? Someone on one of my social media pages had her Soul burn down in the middle of the highway. Interesting...

In 22 months, my Stinger saw the dealer three times:
One oil change, which was supposed to be "free", but I got charges $110
Recall for missing grommet
Replacement of 4 brake rotors.
I consider this a great score. Others may not have been so "lucky", but there is no "perfection" in mass production.
FYI: So far I had 6 oil changes, but except for one, not at the dealer...
Eh. new model new platform? Not surprising I suppose. I haven't had my vehicle long enough to make any personal experience claims about reliability. The only issue I've had was the fader issue on the stereo. I am just going to assume Stingers get more abuse than anything else in the Kia line up so there's that.
CR. Or J. D. Power? Iirc, last year Kia scored c. 732 on the CR 1,000 point index for customer satisfaction with the service departments of the various brands. That's not bad. And J. D. Power rated Kia the most reliable non luxury brand for the fifth year in a row. So, something is askew when comparing these two rating system.
It's not that surprising to see the Stinger that low. Between the GT brakes and the hatch rattle, it's easy to see how it dropped so low. Remember the benchmark is basically zero problems the first 2-3 years. I suspect the Stinger will ultimately be average, but it's not ever going to match Lexus/Toyota, at least the early model years.
I haven't had any real "reliability" problems with the car. It starts and drives every time. I have had minor complaints (quality, quirks), none of which the dealership has had any ability to remedy upon multiple visits.
It has a rating of average, so it is not bad. I am not surprised with the complexity and all the electronic crap own this car. I am real surprised that the brakes were not listed as being below average.
Yes, lets keep in mind these CR ratings are relative. According to the surveys, the Stinger is the least reliable vehicle of the 9th most reliable brand. The Stinger may very well be more reliable than the most reliable vehicle from the 15th most reliable brand. The surveys are not saying the Stinger is unreliable.
This is what I am talking about: how can CR assert that Kia is the 9th most reliable brand when J. D. Power rates Kia number one five years running? (we're not talking about luxury brands here).

Different methodology. CR surveys their members with quite detailed questionnaires over several years of ownership. JD power also surveys but I have not done one that tracked cars over several years as they age. In the past I have also viewed CR reliability surveys as being pretty accurate. I don't like their priorities on road tests though. They seem to prioritize stuff that is trivial to me.

If the Stinger is their least reliable vehicle and it still gets an average rating from CR I would take that as being pretty positive about the brand overall.
I bought my Stinger Jan 15 2018, I'm coming up on 60,000 here real soon. only problems were front brakes which was eventually fixed by replacing pads with stop-tech. Front seat boster wear, which dealer took care of. Thats all so far
