Still going through all the details with insurance so not going into specific details but after 3 months of ownership, this one might be done. I want to commend the safety systems in the car, both front air bags deployed along the Driver side curtain, knee and side airbags resulting in both myself and my passenger walking away with nothing more than soreness and some bruising. When all this is wrapped up, I hope to locate and purchase another stinger knowing that aside from being a very attractive, sporty sedan it's also engineered to be a very safe and reliable car.

## One other comment ##
To those that haven't done it yet, I would highly suggest checking/enabling the option to auto dial 911 via the infotainment system if you pair a cellphone to it. 10 seconds after the car registered a crash it made the call and really expedited the response time of EMS / Police.

Can we get a little more details? Just looks like you ran into the back of somebody, which doesn't speak well for the safety systems. If another car was involved, how did it fair compared to the Stinger?

edit...sorry didn't mean to sound rude/cold. I'm glad you are fine, both you and your passenger. It sure hurts to see something like that, especially something you love.

Probably won't get much detail, if any. If it were me, I wouldn't elaborate until insurance does their thing. Looks like it was a collision with a taller car, so it's likely that the Stinger went underneath and is the more damaged vehicle. Looks like a relatively low speed collision with a taller car with a mismatched bumper, so likely a big truck, semi, etc.

Not necessarily a rear end though, a T-bone with a tall enough car would look similar, and fault is up to insurance to decide. Lol.

This is one of the safest sedans on the road, KIA did a good job with it judging by the crash test videos.

Wow!...that is hard to see. Glad to know everyone walked away form the accident.

Gonna go out on a limb and say the insurance company will repair that car, not total it. Most insurors nowadays won't total until the damage exceeds 75% of the value of the car, and in this case it would have to be a good $20-30k in damage. Looks like most of that damage is forward of the A-pillars, and a good shop can put it back like it was for a lot less than that.

There is a lot more damage than what is seen on the photos. Core support, radiator, condenser, and multiple air bags deployed, both headlights need to be replaced, etc. Since the car is new there are little to no aftermarket parts available, everything will have to be sourced from the dealer. The car is more likely going to be totaled.

Glad your okay and hope to see you in another Stinger soon.

I hope you're right, since it's heartbreaking to have a new car wrecked.

When my 2016 Optima got rear-ended twice within 4 months, to the tune of $10k the first time and $15k the second time, I was beside myself. It no more than got out of the shop from the first wreck before getting creamed the second time.

I argued and argued with the gecko insurance company - and even got an attorney - and they still wouldn't total it. And although I thought the fact it was essentially a new car (9,000 miles on it) would make it more likely to total, the opposite was the case. They said since it was so new it was worth more and therefore harder to get to 75% damage.

I'll hope along with you that the OP's car gets totaled and replaced with a brand new one.

Extra painful, seeing a Stinger mangled (good beyond words, though, that nobody was mangled along with the car!). I hope that everything works out and that you get to drive again really soon. If your car must be repaired, then may that be wholly successful! Amen!

Sorry to see this damage, but glad everyone is fine & all the safety features in this car deployed to protect you all, the car can always be repaired or replaced.

Glad you and your passenger is ok, that’s the main thing above anything. Am dealing with a hit a run on my Stinger right now, It does suck but, here we are ok.

Sad, but a car is replaceable. I would bet it will be totaled. If the airbags deployed, there will be to much mechanical and body damage to put it back together. Salvaging the wheels would be a good idea - sometimes the insurance company will sell you back the wreck for what they can sell it do a dismantler for. Worth asking if in fact they do total it. Good luck on your new 2019 :).

damn, fast car, front end damage.....not good. Walk away with out a scratch....good.

I had the OP in mind last night as I parked in my carport, having driven through a torrential thunderstorm and down a canyon in the dark right before that. On one of the prolonged right hand curves in the canyon my new Nitto Motivo A/S tires did a bit of understeer: I was going too fast! I rode it out rather than get on the brakes (that would have been a very bad idea!), and the Stinger's inherent handling with the AWD and monitored suspension did all the work for me and mitigated my screw up. (@rocket23 has already advised me to remember that A/S have less grip than Pilot Super Sport OEM tires)

It could have been another dead Stinger, and maybe worse: there is a drop off into the creek at that point with no guardrail. Anyway! The OP's mortally injured Stinger, and my foolishness almost right after reading about it, reminds me on this bright, sunny morning, that we must be careful above all other considerations (pursuing fun being at the top of the list, must be pushed down to Number Two, after "Careful There").

It's just not the same driver that is out an about these days. Nowadays drivers will get out of there way to be first ,or ahead of you! Between drunk driving and distracted driving, the cars we drive now are our best defense, that and using our heads instead of our foot .Accidents been around since the model T. Thats the bad......not getting in one in the first place....thats the miracle.
