During my test drive I was really struck by how narrow the rear view is. I am coming from a Subaru Forester - boxy with great views out all windows, so it was a marked difference.

Im curious to hear from people who have been driving the car - how much of an issue do they find this to be? I know for parking you can use the camera, and maybe in day to day usage this doesnt really matter...does anyone out there have an ongoing issue with the extremely limited rear view?

Thanks.

I put the backseat headrests all the way down and I've had no issues.

Rearview is nearly always crap on sporty coupes with their tall bums and low roofline.

Thanks - I totally understand this is not a Stinger specific issue.
However as someone new to this kind of car, I am looking for feedback on how much it actually matters in day to day use? Are there people out there who deal with it, but actually find it to be a real negative?

I really don't find it to be a big deal at all.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
On the GT2 the rear view mirrors tilt down to show you the curb and of course the backup camera is excellent. No big deal.

I do not find it to be too much of an issue. Yes, the view is limited, but I use my side mirrors, and of course the blind spot detection is a huge help to compensate for the limited view. I have been driving my Stinger for just about 3 months now.

It might be mentioned here that lower trim levels do not have the tilting rear view mirrors or the blind spot detection which is part of the DriveWise package, I think. The backup camera is on all trim levels.

Rearview slit doesn't matter much to me. I got the cam for parking and the only info I need from the rear is if someone is behind me, which I still can see in such cars. A really bad thing is a thick broad C-post, which I had on the first gen Z4 Roadster, where it's fabric roof had a giantly broad "C-post". And that makes shoulder checks impossible .. that was always a bit scary, because I had to rely on my side mirrors even for the blind spot. i didn't like that at all.

My GTO does not have all the fancy "nanny tech" stuff on it. I have always set my outside rear view mirrors to monitor the blind spot off my flanks so it's virtually impossible for someone to be in a blind area. Even with the blind spot monitoring, I still set my mirrors that way. I find the blind spot monitor feature to be useful when backing out of a parking spot next to taller vehicles like pickup trucks, but the warning is a bit too late for highway use, especially if a vehicle is gaining on you rapidly.

Just need to be extra careful for cars driving at your rear quarter panels. I don't have blind spot detection, and use my mirrors and always double check with a visual when changing lanes. I keep the forward front passenger seat back positioned to align with the area between the windows, so it doesn't block the passenger rear window.

i don't find it annoying in the least. but, i have owned cars with worse rear views. camaros, vettes, the juke nismo rs. i, like probably everybody else does, i just set the mirror so that it frames the rear window. my only pet peeve is the unpadded tranmission tunnel that hits the side of my knee in just the right spot to annoy the beejesus out of me. or it might be that i am getting old and cranky.

I had a Z06 for a while and found the review to be acceptable. Coupe versions might be a little worse because the window lays more horizontal (very similar to the Stinger) than the FRC style of the Z06.

It's important in any car, especially one with poorer rear visibility, to have your side mirrors adjusted properly AND to always check your blindspots before changing lanes. Personally, I'm used to poor rear visibility from previous cars. I do find myself getting a bit lazy when backing up and depending on the rear camera. Backing out of the garage I can get the cross-traffic alert from a car passing in front of my house before I get too far down the driveway. LOL

As time goes by you will get use to it and never realise it was an issue. I had owned an Audi A7 and a X4 both have coupe like silhouette and had never been a problem.

Just be slow when backing up and pay a little more attention to the reverse aids aka reverse cams and parking sensors. While driving forward where it happens 98% of the time it is a small price to pay. Part of the reason why we bought this car is probably due to the way it looks and a swoop back look will always have some limitations.

My thoughts exactly. It seemed very small the first few days but now is "normal"

I posted the first photo on the Forum of the limited rear view, so I was surprised at how quickly I ceased to notice it once I had the car. After 3 months driving it, the only thing that continues to bother me is when I'm stopped at a light and a RAM-type truck pulls up close and fills my entire rear window with grill. Very intimidating.

That's when you put the car in Reverse.

I don't mind trucks at a stop. What I do mind is trucks filling my rearview when I'm rolling at max allowed speed with my tempomat on.
