Was there a conclusion on this discussion? Other than the lights flashing, nothing seems to happen with the hatch on my GT1 when I press the remote button. I would have expected it to pop up.

Does it allow you to unlock the hatch only at a distance for someone to open with hatch button who is at the car then maybe car is locked again without pressing a remote button.
I’m trying to remember the setup on my base 350z that had no dash hatch button but I think a button on remote would unlock and pop up hatch.
Did not realize the rest of the keys had the button, that makes sense I guess. I wonder how much replacement parts to fix the auto liftgate will cost when it goes bad.
I have a 2.0 premium with a manual hatch and the button only unlocks the hatch with no pop up feature. I thought it was strange at first but now I am getting use to it. It would be nice if the remote would pop the hatch open so if someone had their hands full they could more easily get the hatch open. Still not sure why the Premium didn't get the remote hatch opener but maybe for the same reason it didn't get heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, or heated rear seats.
I've had sedan with pop up trunk but to pop up a actual whole hatch would require much more equipment to lift such a heavy part.
I have no issues with my Manuel hatch. Burn more calories.
I have encountered the same issue on my brand new 2020 Stinger GT Panthera Metallic color. I press the trunk button only for the tail lights to flash and I have to walk up and tap the button on the trunk lid for it to open. I thought mine was the only car with this issue. I only have 435 miles on it thus far. I have base twin turbo GT with the Harmon Kardon sound and driver assist package with LSD and wireless charging pad.

Any updates about this problem? I'm having the same issue on a 19 base. The hatch use to released with the fob, but now it doesn't, and the tail lights flash. The dealer says my base didn't come with that feature. I asked why I would need a feature to flash my tail lights and not pop the hatch??

I think we all determined it was only a problem in labeling. The remote says "HOLD" with a picture of the trunk open, but it only actually opens the trunk on GT2 models. All other models it just unlocks it assuming it's already locked. If it's already unlocked then it doesn't do anything useful at all.
My hatchback (non power) doesn't pop up when you hold down button for it on remote. Also seems to be the rattle back there. Another new car on the lot same thing. So why have the button? Hatch can always be opened manually as long as fob is nearby.
So basically from what I have learned about the remote trunk release on the Kia Stinger base model is that the remote unlocks the truck but does not pop the trunk. without pressing the trunk release button on the remote you are not able to open the hatch unless you are within key range. that's it, that's all.
