My hatchback (non power) doesn't pop up when you hold down button for it on remote. Also seems to be the rattle back there. Another new car on the lot same thing. So why have the button? Hatch can always be opened manually as long as fob is nearby.

A Stinger GT. Micro? Blue. Basic GT with the safety option pack

Mine's power. But it does take a couple of seconds of holding the button before it opens. Same with the button on the dash, to the left and below the steering wheel. That's all I've got...

Good point. @Todd McNulty, how long are you holding down the button on the remote?

I can hold it down forever. It doesn't release. Remember I'm talking about the non-power unit. Dealer agrees it should release. Otherwise there is no sense in having the button. Only thing that happens is the taillights flash twice.

Well I wonder if all the non-power hatches work like this. I guess we'll find out soon...

Does the button on the dash work; or is there one for a manual hatch car?

There is no button for it on dash. Only power operated hatch's get that apparently.

As far as the hatchback rattles goes it definitely helps to turn the rubber stops counterclockwise a couple turns. But I don't know if that is the whole problem with rattles. Maybe I'm just using a bandaid.

On my VW Golf (also non-powered hatch), the key fob button is just to let me unlock the hatch independent of the other doors. I still have to operate the latch with my hand, but it's unlocked at that point, even while the passenger doors remain locked.

On my Optima the fob trunk button will unlatch the trunk and just sit there lose, so you just have to lift it up instead of pressing the button on the trunk. Sounds like that's what the Stinger is doing too?

So in Volkswagens, the button only unlocks the hatch...

In Kias, the button unlocks the hatch and pops it opened as well - but (of course) you need to lift it...

I was just fighting with my detailer over the hatch a few minutes ago. He was back there as I was pressing the button on the dash. He'd reach for the control and about the time it started lifting it would stop because he was there. It might have been that he was hitting the switch or a proximity thing. Not yet sure which. But it was funny as we fought over it a couple of times!

It's supposed to pop up slightly too. Not simply unlock. The reason being it automatically unlocks if you have the remote near. Vehicle can be completely locked up but the hatchback can be opened manually using button under it if fob is close. So what would be the purpose of the button on remote? It does nothing. Hatch should definitely pop up.

i noticed on my GT the button does nothing but unlock, no pop up or release
