RaceChip GTS Black Initial Review

In theory. But I assume you don't know Swiss fines :)

No, I don't. But the chips are removable so you'd never have to show anyone. Or do they do random vehicle inspections?

It's rare, that they would just stop you to check what's under the hood. For that to happen, you have to be suspicious, i.e. too loud, to wild, to fast or any other reason to pull you to the side, then they sometiems do their little tour to check if all exhaust parts etc have the original makers metal stamp and serial etc.

Isn't there a Euro approval board that once the product passes, it is legal for all vehicles? I remember the tune for my Volvo's were from mtm in Sweden that was t.u.f. (?) Approved.

Neat to just do that like that in the US :) In Switzerland, the car has to still fulfill all rules it had before tuning .. i.e. no increase in sound etc. And the worst: It'd have to be tested after tuning for all this by an authority, costs around 4500 USD.
Ouch. Boy, your government sure takes it seriously. Can the average Swiss citizen afford those kind of fees?

Afford is relative .. do we talk about a 20 year old who wants to tune, or a 50 year old? :) Usually, people wont tune and not shell out that much money .. you have to be a real die hard to pay that amount of money for just 52 HP more. Besides that, tax will also raise due to higher CO2 output etc.

of sorts. But Switzerland is not EU and does not accept a german TÜV rating without question etc. We need swiss approvals for a lot of things, specified down to the car model of course.

interesting, thank you voon. also, was it switzerland that had caught the businessman doing 120 mph and hit him with a 200,000 euro speeding ticket, or something like that? your speeding fines are based on how much money you make x excess speed? correct?

For the very wealthy, yes. If you're a millionaire, your fine will be exorbitant. Also, at 200 you go to jail.

That is definitely a deterrent for speeders for sure.

I'm glad I don't live there......lol

Has anyone dyno'd thier car before and after? Run data logs to see the timing, fuel, boost mapping, etc???

Wow... Dangerous to drive a Switzerland!

(My hometown is very close to Switzerland though:ninja:)

The install is pretty straight forward it is disconnecting three sensors and reconnecting them using the included harness. The connections are labeled with letters (ie. A, B, and C) with pictures of the connections. The only thing i would say is when you start the install. Pop your hood and lock your doors then go put your keys somewhere away from the car for the initial discharge and the install. Also i would figure out where you want to lay your cables before you start connecting and pay attention to the little card they have included for connection orientation.
If i think of anything ill post more.

Oh and I think a low strength 3M double sided tape or some velcro strips would make the install go easier in the location where i put it then the included straps.

My instructions were for a 4 cylinder VW so not a ton of help. I assume that both B and C connectors are for the two Cam sensors but mine are 4 and 3 pin connectors, as opposed to both being 3 pin connectors. The turbo sensor A was straight forward. Help!

Check out this installation manual. I would email them to check and make sure you have the right harness and download the racechip app and put in the serial number to make sure the chip they sent you is for the stinger. You dont need to have bought the app option to do this only to connect to it if you purchased.

Thanks! The Kia Stinger instructions are way easier than the VW instructions. I figured it out mostly by watching a Stinger Lap 3 video but used the lower Cam sensor. I'll switch back to the upper harder to reach CAM sensor to match the instructions, but the lower one did seem to work fine.

Update: 1200+ miles with no issue, and I have not regapped my spark plugs and i only run 93 octane.

The modes mention below are Stinger mode/RaceChip mode as they are independent of each other.
I have tried a variety of the modes my favorite being Comfort/Eco mode at the moment. Just took a 200 mile round trip drive that i did before the race chip installation and saw gains of 4 to 5 mpg with cruise set to 79 mph (Yes i did the math after the fill up). When i ran Eco/Eco mode i saw the exact gains as i saw in Comfort/Eco mode, im not sure what to make of this. I have spent most of my time in comfort/sport mode about 700 miles and find it the best during my everyday commute, there is just too much traffic. An although i love Sport/Race mode it has been raining here almost every day the last month. I have put on maybe 200 miles in race mode but can really only use it stoplight to stoplight. Im hoping to get out on some of the back roads with this thing as soon as we get out of the wet portion of spring.

Also im still planing on getting this thing to the dyno real soon while this car is still stock.

Did you ever end up getting it Dyno tested?

results would be great off the dyno

Anyone else with feedback on the racechip gts?
