I made a quick video showing the puddle lights after I picked up my Stinger today. The puddle lights are super useful if you routinely park in areas where there's little light. They stay on for about a minute after unlocking the car or turning the car off.

The remote start is pretty standard. Nothing special and since it's designed to turn the car off once you open the door I kind of wish I had just waited for an aftermarket system. Anyway, here's a couple pics and link to video.

These are dealer options. $500 for remote start and $240 for puddle lights. Note, the remote start costs twice what I paid for a FAR SUPERIOR Comustar remote start on my wife's Hyundai Santa Fe. I should have just waited until they developed one but it's done and paid for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have the compustar and drone for my Optima and sorento and I will be using the same setup on my stinger.

I do like the puddle lights but I may look into a custom logo puddle light instead but it is nice to know the factory puddle lights are not too expensive.

Thanks for the video @Plainomoo. My guess is that they considered all the possible trouble a driver could get into if the car remained running after the remote start and their lawyers nixed the running engine. Yes, annoying, but with the Stop/Start system and (hopefully) a robust starter motor, it's just a button press away - after the seatbelt is buckled -- which may be the switch that needs to be defeated to make it work like you want.

On the remote start, My Volvo does it from an app (would love that from KIA) and it also shuts off when the door is opened. I think it's to make sure if someone gets the door open, they will need to have the key in the car to drive the car.

Seems dumb, my kids Jeep doesn't shut off after remote start unless you try to shift gears without hitting the start button on the dash.

Thanks for showing. I was considering the puddle lights myself so it's nice to see how it looks in real footage - pretty bright! Perhaps you'd attract too much attention.

My thoughts exactly because the doors are locked already. But then there's also this: any remote start I've ever used requires you to press the brake and start button or turn the key on after getting in the car. So there's no real difference in what you have to actually do. Still annoying to turn that starter again though if you ask me. Lol

Yes they're really bright. In complete darkness they'll be a lifesaver and I have several places I frequent that these will be useful.

I've never owned a vehicle with a remote starter before, but boy... I am enjoying the UVO app and the remote start! And pleased to report that the engine does not shut off when the door is opened... as soon as I sit down my steering wheel moves into position (and seat would too, but I've disabled that) and I just put into Drive and go! :D

Salt in the wound...:cautious:o_O:cry::mad:

@Plainolmoo, if you feel motivated one night, take another photo with your headlights set to auto. That should provide the full lighting effect immediately after you hit the unlock button. I'd love to see it.

Is the factory remote start kntegrated into the factory key fob or is there an extra fob?

Later tonight.

Did they not "train" your regular fob? When I got my optima I chose a aftermarket starter, but when I was looking at the Kia one, they showed me how they can train the regular fob. If you "double clicked" the lock button on the regular fob, it would start the car.
If that's a feature that they didn't explain to me I'm not surprised. They've been clueless from the start which is why I had my car over a month before they actually installed my options. Thanks, I'll try your method out later.
