I recently installed the Powerstop Z26 pads and rotors kit I ordered from RockAuto. Not the first time I have done brakes, and had a buddy who helped me as well. I am now getting a clunking or galloping sound when driving the car when going anything over 5+ mph. Additionally the sound increases in speed the faster the vehicle goes. It does eventually stop, but not until higher speeds. Additionally, the sound goes away immediately upon braking, and returning shortly after letting off the brakes. Brakes work fine, quite good actually, much better than stock. But the sound is driving me insane as it's quite audible in the car. The weird thing is we cannot really hear the noise outside the car when doing test drives in a quiet area. We have tried removing / re-seating the rotors pads multiple times to no avail. It appears to be only coming from the driver front wheel area, but it's had to be sure. Outside of going back to the stock pads and rotors I am not sure what to do.
I did find another thread regarding the clunk of the pads shifting when going from drive / reverse, but nothing about the pads making noise while driving. I am assuming it the pads at least as I would have no idea what else it could be. Any other suggestions before I take it to a mechanic or look to have them returned? I really would like to avoid that as I love the performance increase over stock, but I cannot live with this noise in the car.
