My 2018 Stinger GT2 with 12,000 miles on it is now in the shop for the 2nd time.
Problems
1)The Rpms rev up all on there own when you accelerate.
Its as if the trans. is slipping or a torque converter issue???
The Techs are saying they cant duplicate but it has happened to me 3 times now.
2)My High beams point WAY up into the trees and the sky when i drive at night and they are 100%
useless.
I mean WAY WAY up!
The techs are telling me this is normal and all Stingers are like this...WHAT?

I’m hoping this isn’t a troll post.

RPMs would go up as you accelerate. More-so if you floor it causing the car to downshift). Or if you manually downshift. Or if you accidentally shift into neutral (as many have on the gt2). Understand that unless you are in neutral (or your torque converter is toast), RPMs are directly tied to the wheel rotations and gear selected. It isn’t possible for the RPMs to go higher than the current gear/wheel revolutions are.

High beams do cover a larger vertical column... mainly to illuminate overhead freeway signs.

nothing is wrong with your high beams. This has been well discussed.

Please clarify your first post. .

Way up into the trees is not a problem as long as they also light up the road way out there. If the road is dark and the trees are like daylight, then you definitely have a problem. How are your low beams? Most of us have noticed that from the factory, they are set too close in front; we feel like we are outdriving our illumination. So, some of us have adjusted our low beams further out. Easy to do. (I don't know what effect, if any, this has on high beam adjustment.)

Are you driving on flat surfaces when your RPMs take off? Or are you going up or downhill? Because I noticed a handful of times that the trans can downshift enough to drive the RPMs to just below red line. And it isn't in any hurry to upshift either. This engine loves high revs. It isn't any danger. I get control back by using the paddle shifters.

No trolling or bashing here.
I live in Florida so its flat.
When you accelerate the RPM's climb beyond what i am pressing the pedal.
Dry flat roads.
The RPMS are overrevving based on my pedal input and you can feel it AND see it on the gauge.
The car didn't react this way until recently...The vehicle just started doing this.

My high beams are illuminating the trees.
at 50' down the road the high beams are pointing 25' up in the trees.
the high beams do not point down the road at all and are unusable and are nothing like any car i have ever driven in my life and i'm 59.

Well, that settles it. A recent change in how your engine behaves means something in the interface has "slipped". Don't have a clue what it could be. But I take your certain confirmation of your OP verbatim. Take a service tech for a drive. Then you'll be taken seriously. Both conditions should be super easy to duplicate with a witness onboard.

(edit: sounds like your trans is uncoupling from the engine)

its at the stealership now.
they said they are turning it over to another tech for what would amount to now as a 3rd opinion.
ill keep ya posted.

if they give the car back to you stating they could not recreate the issue, make sure next time it happens to record a video with your cellphone.

great idea...will do

Issue number one sounds like this:https://www.motortrend.com/cars/genesis/g70/2019/2019-genesis-g70-long-term-update-1-review/

"More seriously, when asked for forceful acceleration (necessary when turning left from my quiet residential street onto a major artery), the transmission would seemingly slip and fail to deliver propulsion, while engine revs would scream to redline. This would happen for a terrifying three-Mississippi count as I drifted into cross traffic, until the tranny would sort itself out with another clunk and finally deliver power."

Yes...this is what my car is doing.
Thank you for the research.

OK...
Got the car back last night and here is what my diagnosis was from the dealer.

High beam headlights are what they are.Vehicle operating as designed.
I am fortunate enough to have 4 vehicles to chose from to drive at night.
The Stinger sits at home if there is night driving involved.
Pretty sad that a 50k car has nonadjustable high beams that are aimed at the planes passing overhead.

On a better note...I did 400 miles today with zero issues of transmission problems.
Tech Notes:
Performed a transmission Adaptive reset and relearn

Nothing user adjustable on the high beams?

Do you mind taking pictures of what your high beams look like so we can see for ourselves? High beams are meant to illuminate a much taller cone than the low beams, which as you know are cut off sharply at or around the horizon to avoid blinding oncoming cars.

Sell the car. Defective. Get a pinto (gts limited edition)

20’ high at 92’ out is nothing. Sounds normal.

What was your previous car? Could it be the Stinger just has better high beams, so it seems weird that they're that high up?
