• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Pictorial where did you go in your Stinger today

Lol. I nailed a tawny frogmouth on Saturday night in the work car, driving along slowly on a residential street looking for something then see a sudden flash of white feathers coming at the bottom left corner of the windscreen. Impacts about a quarter of the way across, rolls in a mess of wings and clawed feet ends up upside down showing the speckled brown topside, collects the A pillar on the right side and drops out of view just nicking the side mirror on the way down. Anyway did what I needed to do and circled back round the block and here’s the stupid thing sitting on the side of the road almost in the running lane just staring into the distance with that slow blink that owls do. At least I didn’t kill it so no road kill count but it made a fair crack at the kamikaze run.

Oh also Ravens? Mate you’re in Australia not old mother England. We call them crows here.

Stone the bloody crows mate :D:p:rofl:;)
There are Ravens, they are bigger than crows and have black eyes, I think crows have yellow

It's the other way around, crows have black eyes and Aussie Ravens have yellow.

Oh ok, thought in UK the Raven's had black eyes, I was trying to remember the film " The Omen " 2 when the " Raven " blinded this woman, I'm sure it had black eyes and in the book they described it as a Raven.

European and American ravens have black eyes.

I think its the Currawong that has yellow eyes. Or perhaps it's the Jaundice Bird?:D

Day 3 Anzac day the Stunger had a well earned rest. 16354 pedometer steps later (9.87km) The river walk completed. And on the walk many informative signs like this one lol:20190425_130349.webp
Murranbidgee is the river that passes through, water levels low ATM.

Flocks of little Corellas landed in the trees they are very noisey. 20190425_153247.webp

No road kill reported much to the relief of our US friends. Lol.

So they show a picture of an Australian raven next to some text that explains the town means place of many crows. So from that raven, crow, same diff, move on nothing to see here ;):D:p

I thought I’d have a good shot from my dash cam to post from my drive to work this morning. I pulled out of the driveway and saw a UH-1 Iroquois flying over on it’s way to a fly past for the Terrigal ANZAC Day dawn service. As I turned round the dogleg on my street and headed out it crossed right in front of me. For an old Vietnam era chopper there’s just something mesmerizing about it with that distinctive thump of the rotors. I had a perfect view of her as she flew out towards the coast for the short hop south to Terrigal beach, made sure the radio was off and the window down so I got the full effect of sound and sight. Sadly when I got home from work tonight and reviewed the footage it turns out the dash cam doesn’t have the same quality zoom as the MK1 human eyeball and alas that beautiful old war veteran was nothing more than a speck on the footage. The sound quality was however quiet good. So no picture to post for this pictorial of where I went in my Stinger today, you’ll just have to get your picture in your minds eye from the words above. As for the rest of the trip it was pretty boring and then my baby sat in the car park at work for about 14 hours collecting dust before an equally uneventful drive home. Maybe tomorrow I’ll give her a wash.........maybe.

Even a speck is better than nothing. You should post what you have. :) And a moving speck with sound, well, a lot better than words alone.

No other than the odd flash of a navigation light you really couldn’t see it clearly on the camera. Plus the video had me talking to myself about the Huey as she flew over, my running commentary isn’t worth posting. Here’s a picture of it flying over the dawn service from the local paper

I knew it was probably early, but I went as far as I could on our proposed "Stinger loop" (copycatting the SLC Ferrari Club last fall). I got as far as the first couple of switchbacks on the Alpine Loop, then came to the closed gate. Looking online at the Utah seasonal highway closure schedules, 92 closes in mid to late November and reopens in late May, early June; so I was off by a good, full month. :P Eager for the excursion, I am.

Anyway, here are some links to the videos I took, and a few pics.

Here's a screen shot of how far I got today: Pine Hollow Trailhead is where the closed gate is.

Welp! Expect an update late May, early June, then. Heh! "Patience, Grasshopper." Once I determine that the entire route is open, I'll drive it, then offer Utahns (and anybody else who wants to bother to drive over here), the chance to set a date for our "Stinger loop" rendezvous; with lunch at the Silver Fork Lodge, outside, on their deck. :)

Day 3 on the way home popped into the chocolate factory at Junee20190426_121135.webp
On the way out I spied a grey nomad examining my car at close range, by the time I pulled the phone out she had sought shelter behind a tree on the way back to her caravan and 4wd20190426_120607.webp

I’m hearing ya.

There’s a spot on the way to work in the morning where when the phase of the moon is right I come over a slight rise and it looks to me like I’m driving straight into a massive orange setting moon. But when I showed the dash cam footage to the family they’re like ‘is that it?’ And in all fairness when looking at it myself it’s a bit meh. Sometimes you just have to be there.

So am I the closest in the guess the sightings contest? What do I win? Do I get my choice of roadkill? Car still looks shiny. Glad you made it back with no incidents.
