I'm assuming these tests were done on a new car that hasn't been through the break-in period or maybe a pre-produciton tester? This is true for gas mileage. I'm starting to see better mileage than when I first purchased my Stinger. Does the same hold true for 0-60 times etc...?
Heck yes! But I figured my tires are the best ever. And I haven't abused them. So there won't be anything wrong with them because of me. If they explode on me it will be because of a defect. And if I am going to worry about a defect to the extent that I won't drive this car once in a while at something like it is capable of, then just give me back my VW Bug and have done with it.
Btw, I have had a couple of tires come apart on me, early in my driving days; the first was a retread on my '71 Bug; at freeway speed. Same tire, RR. It sounded like a gunshot. But the tire didn't lose air, because it was just a huge chunk of the tread that let go.
I came across Road and Track's offical performance review on the GT and thought I'd share the performance report. It's a nice break down on all the critical performance data. View attachment 10557
Just to show how capable this engine is, and how far they have taken it so far, Tork Motorsports' Stinger gets to 130 over THREE SECONDS faster than the one tested here (15-15.5 seconds versus 18.8).
The 3.3 is an exciting engine straight from the factory, but it's amazing how much untapped potential there is left to explore.
The Alpha is 505 hp from a 2.9 L for $75k and runs a 12.1 1/4 mile. $40k Stinger with about $3k in mods has about 515-520hp and also runs a 12.1 1/4 mile. Stinger is a little heavier.
