Panthera Metal and Thunder Grey Discussion

Not a fan of the we cement color. Of all the colors available here I would get the panthera. Not even a close call. Deep chroma blue is better but unavailable here. The dark gray, and put some blackout wheels on it.

Blackout wheels=?

i honestly
Light grey o_Oo_O
I think , it's the sleeper color , I see Audi has it now as well as Mini , the "pastel" look is a huge new emerging trend . If I was going to buy my car tomorrow based on everything I know now ..................Ghost Grey !! go for it !!

Im teatering on a darker version of the stock 19 GT wheel and thinking about powder coating them anthracite gray ................I always thought dark wheels looked dirty but now .....................mmmm maybe not

Thank-you for posting that! I’ve ordered this colour with a red interior, but to be honest, I wasn’t thrilled with the colour options they gave us in Canada.

Here is my conundrum, and no offense to other people who selected this colour, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

My brother says, and I agree with him, that this colour makes the car look premium. I love the depth of the colour (metal flakes or whatever when you look closely at the paint) and I think 5 years from now the colour will still look great, particularly for a person like me who doesn’t go through the cost/effort of getting into waxing and so on. Sad, I know. Overall, I think this colour looks great close up.

But from afar, I find this colour minimizes the sporty look of the car. The chrome helps, but it just doesn’t look the same as the lighter colours. Comparing it to my second choice, the “wet cement” colour, I find the lighter colour really makes the sporty features stand out, which I LOVE. Now the downside of the wet cement colour. It’s just so flat. Up close I don’t find it looks that great, and I’m concerned that five years down the road it’s going to look super flat because, as I said, I don’t tend to do much to maintain the paint.

So I went with my head rather than with my heart but I’m having second thoughts… :(

My dealership has the wet cement version sitting on their lot so I could change my mind any day I want, and also get the car right away rather than in April which is exacerbating my anguish x100 haha.

100% agree on the look based on the color.

Panthera Metal/Thunder Grey = Luxury vibe
Cement, White, Blue, Red = Sporty vibe

For me, going into a "Kia" was a tough pill to swallow coming from Lexus and Audi so to "minimize the impact", I wanted to go for the look and panache of the Audi S7 over the more youthful traditionally-associated Kia colors (blue, red, etc). In fact, it's uncanny how the Stinger strongly resembles certain styling elements on the inside too such as the steering wheel design, door panel aluminum (CF) trim, red leather color, gauge cluster, etc. I've also noticed how much attention my Stinger gets (despite the more sedate dark grey color) where people look around it as they walk by or while sitting at a red light in their cars trying to figure out what it is! In this color, it has that "commanding GT luxury presence" :)

My dad 5 years ago owned a Scion TC in cement color. We all loved it at first since it was unique but soon after, we found it looked "flat" and easily blended in city streets. Not his car but a similar one to what he had.

Picking a color is not an easy choice and I can relate. In spring 2013, I canceled my Black/Red IS order because I then fell in love with the Ultrasonic Blue for its depth and the fact that it pops out among the usual crowd of white, greys, and blacks, as you can see below in a past car meet. In fact, I mentioned this elsewhere that if the current Stinger's blue was just a touch darker, I'd be in that one now! :)

Hahaha I have my current black stinger, which I am switching for a new Thunder Grey/Pantera in February......
I am really torn and would love options on two things:
1) White or Thunder Grey? I want red interior so not many choices, other than the black I already have, which isn't doing it for me.
2) If I go Thunder Grey what colour wheels would you suggest ? I want to get new wheels with all seasons. Stinger is too new for some of the wheel visualizers, I am thinking matte black, matte gune metal or matte grey

I'd go with white since the risk is you may get bored of Thunder Grey seeing you're not into black. If you're going to change, make it a big enough change.

As for wheels, generally I prefer the grey shades. The S7 below is "close enough" to our car to provide an idea with white to compare with too! Vossen CVT graphite.

Matte gunmetal! That’s what I run on my black miata track car. Everyone is always asking about them at track events

At the local grocery store... hard to keep the car clean with all the wet salty roads this time of year. :(

With Panthera Metal, you can have The Beauty AND The Beast all in one!! A very dynamic color. At some angles, it looks moody black, and with just a few steps to one side or the other, it looks like liquid metal. Gorgeous all around.IMG_20180217_154002335_HDR.webp
