Shine bright like a diamond!! Thank you for sharing.

Can you explain the benefit of getting multiple coats? durability, protection or higher level of gloss? or all?

I had Ceramic Pro applied on the 12th of November and it’s so far been amazing. My washes take a fraction of the time and a short drive afterwards helps with drying. A simple high pressure wash gets rid of most dirt. I couldn’t be happier.
Literally when driving home on the freeway from picking up my car from the applicator I had a piece of rubber or similar flick up onto my bonnet and over my windshield. There was a lot of profanity but I kept going as it was about to rain (it needs 48 hours to set, minimum). Once home I spoke to the applicator and he said to rub it gently with a microfibre cloth but was told not press to hard as it was just applied and it should come off, if not he’ll fix it. But luckily it come off easily which I think the coating although not fully cured made it possible.

The last two photos show the mark left on the bonnet from the road debris.

Cheers Mate, I can’t express enough how infuriated I was on the remaining drive home as I’ve been on the road for 22 years and never had anything like this happen, but Murphy’s law I get it with a brand new car after having the paint protection done, figures. But my decision to have the coating applied was justified.

Your Stinger does look great and I'm so glad you got rid of that mark on the hood! You're right, Murphy's Law. Unbelievable. I'm really starting to like the idea of these coatings. I always figure the car is never going to look as good as "day one" again - but with these options available - that's simply not true... I'm starting to think this is a must for any car you truly care about...

That’s exactly how I see it too. There was a car in their workshop that had the coating applied 3 years earlier and they hadn’t seen it since. They gave it a detail and it still looked brand new. Spend a little at the start and it will give ongoing benefits including RE-sale value.

I hadn’t heard of the ceramic coating before. Would have potentially changed what I ended up doing. I got my full bumper, fender and hood wrapped with Suntek ultra clear bra. I live in AZ so lots of little rocks like to find your car and the 10 year warranty sold me.

I've known people to do what you have done for the protection factor as the ceramic coating won't stop stone chips, its scratch resistant but not scratch proof. Then they will apply the ceramic coating over the whole car including the clear bra which will give it an additional protection. Unfortunately I have already got a few very small stone chips :(

I would like to confirm something about this 10 year warranty I have heard about in the US, on the Stinger, i have looked up the Kia US website, and correct me if i am wrong, the way i understand it is, only the Powertrain has the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty, everthing else covered comes under a 5 year warranty, can anyone confirm this, or did i read it wrong?

Beware: the electronics only have a 3yr warranty, as I understand it!

I know the stereo system is only 3 years !

I know the stereo system is only 3 years !
There are a WHOLE lot more electronics than that, especially in the packages and top trims!

The way I read the warranty all electronics except for the audio DVD system are 5 years.
Here is the guide from the warranty booklet.

we've hijacked this thread !

I've been doing a lot of reading on paint protection options and have come to the conclusion that a good quality ceramic coating is the best value for money investment to protect the paintwork at under $1000 as it will also minimize cleaning, maximize lustre and offer minor scratch protection.

The film protection for stone chips is also a great product but I cant justify the cost of $3000-$4000 for half a car (vulnerable areas) or $6000 - $7000 for the whole car. For that sort of money you could respray the whole car.

I must admit prior to purchasing the Stinger and researching the subject I was quite cynical about the idea of paint protection as my last experience from around 10 years ago was disappointing but I can now see the technology has advanced significantly and there are some great products out there, Ceramic Pro being one however I will be going for a newer product from Korea called Gyeon.

I'm hoping to learn the process of application to be able to do it myself in the future as regardless of the warranty offered I dont believe there is any product out there that will retain more than around 80% of its original composition after 12-18 months so yearly applications are necessary for optimum ongoing protection.

Here is the list of Certified Australian Detailers:

Gyeon Quartz Australia

This article on paint protection was one of the most informative ones I came across in my research:

I'll be trying out Mr Fix 9H. Chinese ceramic coating for 10 USD from AliExpress. All reviews so far look good and I tested it myself on the mirror at home, which works perfectly.
