Have you guys seen this issue at your dealership? Is KMA aware?

We are working with a customer however KIA has released zero information. They (KIA) are setting up case numbers and being proactive

No problems on my HiChroma Red GT2. I've been over every inch of it washing and waxing it.

Since The Red/Blue have a unique paint process I am interested to see if they are having any issues.

Interesting. How’s the process different? I also have a hichroma red with no issues. But I have the full front covered in ppf and the entire car just got ceramic coated.

I cannot recall the specifics however it was brought up during our Stinger training.

I had some issues with my yellow one as well. 3500 miles - 2 chips and peeling paint on back hatch under license plate. The plastic hatch under the license plate cracked as well.
I didn’t ask about the 2 chips even though they are in odd places (above left wheel well and top of right rear tail light) When they replaced the cracked hatch it included painting the new part locally. That fixed the peeling paint problem. The new paint wraps all the way around the edges of the part. Original paint didn’t.
Not sure what caused the hatch to crack but Kia covered it after I sent an email to the national level. Paint may have peeled because the paint job wasn’t too good and I used turtle wax car safe adhesive remover to remove some emblem adhesive. The stuff is made for cars and I had no problems using it on my red stinger to do the same thing a month or so earlier. If the hatch didn’t need replacing I do not know if Kia warranty would have covered the peeling paint issue. I do know that Century Kia in Tampa was prepared to cover the repair either way.
They have been great to work with.

Thank you for letting the group know about the paint issues. Have not noticed any problems as of yet with my Micro Blue; will keep a close watch,

My Micro Blue has gotten pretty bad. Close to 15 large and small chips in 3500 miles. Been talking to the dealer and district rep who agreed that shouldn't be happening...now waiting on a field service tech to look at it.

Well.......that rules out the red and blue special painting process.

Having similar issues with my wifes red stinger. Small chip on drivers side door, chip on passenger side rear wheel well edge and chips from the windshield wipers on edge of hood, car came off the truck with hood chips. My 2 1/2 year old ats v with 23,000 miles only has one chip on the whole car and the stinger has 3 in less than 1000. I hope kia figures this out and takes care of its customers because this really is a great car. I would like to add this seems to be a stinger only problem. I bought a 2018 soul ! at the same time and it has no chips with double the miles and a long highway trip which the stinger has not been on.

Anyone know what causes the chipping? Mine is ceramic coated, but just got coated at 6k miles. No chips.

Just checked mine and it has tons on the hood! Wtf man. I’m only at 4000 miles. I’ve got the Aurora Black.

Where do I find that number?

I have gotten no chips here, 11.5k miles.

This is through every possible weather condition imaginable.

Wow Dmchristie, that's just unacceptable.

That's not from a rock or debris, that's a flawed paint job. You can tell this by the visible primer coat. The top coat literally is flaking off.

Edit to add: This is extremely worrisome from my PoV. There is no way Kia can prove the entire paint job isn't flawed and simple repaints would not be an acceptable fix. What happens once the bumper to bumper is gone and half the hood flakes off one day....

Well, a warranty repaint would likely fix the issue, especially on the hood now that they (apparently) have figured out what was wrong.
