Paint chips vs Build date

Interesting results. Mine is Aurora Black Pearl-December 2017 build with zero issues so far. But then I only have 1700 miles on it after 4+ months.

Yes, but paint failures don't have anything to do with miles on the car. Look at the reports of paint chipping on cars sitting in dealerships. It sounds like your paint is "okay", that is, as good as Kia gives.

I get that. I have two very small chips on the hood that appear to be from road debris. Difficult to avoid in the desert of Arizona. I do have the Ceramic pro finish on the car.

From reading these threads I have been going over my car with a flashlight-and fine toothed comb! No Headlight rubbing, no chips and no peeling. I'll keep knocking on wood it stays that way.

12/17 Yellow...3200 miles....no problems....washed it four times in automatic car wash and one hand wash....no dirt roads....hard paste wax was applied once.

Yes his one was probably painted after they realized the paint was bad! Hope it stays that way.

I have not been contacted by KIA but am waiting. Love the yellow but if they are going to pull the damn car apart to paint parts of it I will just opt for another car with the same stuff on it in a different color if given the opportunity....we shall see.

I would not use the auto car wash on a stinger. I have a red and yellow. I was using the auto wash and the Red and it now has auto car wash issues - minor scratches and some chips. The Yellow has other paint issues but I will not take either through the auto wash again. Not worth the risk with this paint.

I spent a few hours just buffing out hood scratches from a car wash on a 2017 Sportage we got in January right before the Stinger, which will never see an automated car wash. All were going in one direction......front to back.

Agreed - Mine is an October build GT2AWD Aurora Black with no issues after 5,000 miles and more than seven months of ownership
