OBD Fusion & Bluetooth BLE OBD2 sensor

That would be awesome!
Not gonna happen. Kia would have to change the software on their side. The only other way would be to have Android auto make it a supported app, but I don't see that happening either..

I have a bluetooth odb2 sensor. Is it ok to keep it plugged in all the time or will it drain battery while the car is sitting in the garage?

I’ve had two units plugged into my vehicles and have not experienced any battery drain. Since I don’t get any communication from the sensor when the vehicle is off...I’d assume that it’s not draining the battery.

The sensor is only about 1.5”x2” and it initially looked as though it would stick down too far because of Kia’s placement of the port, but it actually turned out just fine. I leave it plugged in at all times and have never come close to hitting it.

I’d say between my leg and the sensor, I have a good 10” of distance.

Interesting, in my car the plug is in the fuse box. You can see the attached pic, I do not have a plug from the bottom.

Problem is when I attach my OBD2 reader I cannot close the fuse box cover even though the reader is as small as yours.

I was unaware that they would be in different locations. That’s a bit odd. They do make a dongle to extend the connection. My buddies Focus RS has a bad location for his port, so he got a dongle that extends the port and is angled so he can close his port cover.

Found this on Amazon, which might work:

Thanks for the link, will check it out.

The difference is likely because my car is not US spec, my best guess is US spec cars require the 02 plug to be outside of the Fuse Box maybe:unsure:

My 2013 Sorento was also in the fusebox and the cover was too close to use when using the OBD port. I don't know how they decide to put them where.

Does this app have pid to monitor knock events and detonation?

For those Android Auto usersusers wi to do a little legwork, and not concerned about the beauty of the display, here is an app that will let you put Torque Pro info on the infotainment screen. You'll need to either install XDA Labs which has an app store, or download the apk from the XDA Developers website, but it's worth it.

Ok, I'm too new to pay a link, so here's the link text without the www

Hi Just wondering if you can see the codes for things like "Door Open", "Reverse Gear" and "brakes" if you can please let me know

Door and brakes are not OBD parameters. For that you would need to decode CAN, and figure out if they are available through that protocol.

The Stinger OBD interface provides engine and transmission parameters. Gear may be provided - I've never looked at transmission but will if I remember next time I'm driving.

Hey eflyguy,

have you had any luck checking the sensors as Ive tried every app with an ELM and they dont show, but it buffer overflows when I try and log the entire CANBUS code to decode any thoughts ?

I had a HUD in my old optima which was plugged into the OBD2. That port was in the fuse box panel instead of underneath like in the Stinger GT.

I have the RWD GT with no HUD and wanted to buy the same one i had in the Optima but im hoping it fits since its out in the open.
Ill make a post once i get it installed. I figured this car would have more use for the OBD2 since its a faster and you dont want to take your eyes off the road. IMO they should make the HUD standard across all GT models.

So I was able to check several of the PIDs. It appears, at least for now...you can’t read turbo rpm, inlet pressure, outlet pressure, wastegate position and engine oil temp. ***However, the app gauges WILL show boost psi.

There were plenty that did record during my trip. Absolute throttle %, ambient air temp, engine rpm, fuel system status, intake air temp and relative throttle position %.

Below is a small ~10 mike trip I did. The apps legend and colors change based on which PID you want to see. You can zoom into the map from the app to see a better breakdown.

Thanks for the details. Did you end up going with a piggyback? I have the OBD fusion app and the RaceChip piggyback unfortunately boost doesn’t read the inflated boost from the RaceChip. If you have a piggyback have you been able to determine the actual boost and not what the ECU is reporting the boost?

in addition to that what have you set for volumetric efficiency and airflow?

Terry with JB4 mentioned that the most interesting parameters were under PID 0x22, however that is not a supported PID for our car on this app.

Hmmm...I'll have to dig out my old sensor I had for my G37. I used it mainly to read error codes. But curious what info it can provide me with the Stinger.

Let me know what you discover when configuring the app.
