Bottom line up front...I'm now the proud owner of a 2019 Ceramic Silver GT1!
My 2018 Premium had numerous nuisance-type issues, most of which I had been living with since I bought it in May of last year. I got tired of going back and forth with three local Kia service departments and the Premium team without resolution to any of them. Rather than continuing to chase down solutions that may or may not resolve only a portion of the issues, I gave up and traded it after some diligent research. The current dealer discounts off MSRP and lease cash offers (will buy out in a month) absorbed all of the negative equity I had on the Premium, and the remainder lowered the sales price to about what I had originally paid for the Premium so I'm calling a mulligan and pulled the trigger. I test drove a few GT1's and 2 in the area before deciding on one that I could confirm didn't have any of the same issues my premium had (surprising a 2019 GT2 had some of the same ones,) was a color I preferred, and was priced competitvely. I'm so relieved and happy now! I can finally enjoy a proper "new Stinger honeymoon" period!
I ended up buying from King Kia in Gaithersburg. Two things I learned from buying a car in MD...while VA residents still pay VA sales tax when buying in another state, MD subtracts the trade-in value from the price of the car so you pay less in sales tax (saved $$$ in my case.) The other thing was that MD dealerships have the "documentation" / "processing" fee capped at $300 due to state law. Most dealerships Kia dealerships in NoVA charge $799 or more for this (another $$$ savings.)![]()
Omg awesome! I am so happy for you and a bit envious of the color choice! I can not wait to see it! Hey, there is a good reason to do another meet at my house!![]()
This!Hell Yeah!
Congrats! That's where I got mine last year, which was super convenient since I live nearby and wasn't trading in, so after making the deal I had to drive my Optima home so Daniel could give me a ride back to the dealership and get the Stinger.I ended up buying from King Kia in Gaithersburg.

I'm not out that way much anymore. I'm in Ashburn pretty close to you, I think.Congrats!!!!! Now I'll be looking out for a ceramic silver around reston/herndon for you.
OMG! My condolencesThis week, my 2-week-old GT1 hit a large but empty cardboard box on 495 at highway speed. The box flew off the back of a truck two lanes over and drifted into my lane...saw it at the last second and couldn't avoid it. $2k in damage. Ugh!
Thanks for the condolences. Funny thing...today I had just received an overlay to put on the front Kia badge. Before I opened the package to take a look, my interior designer wife suggested the same thing...going badgeless up front. Since that's 5 of you in the past 2+ hours (counting the "agrees" on your post) I may just go that route!OMG! My condolences
The silver lining is that when the front bumper is painted, you could have the repair shop remove the hood badge, fill in the holes, paint over it....going with the ultra clean badgeless look...as the @17th_Letter did. Would look really slick.

Here's a few...probably hard to see the true extent. The paper-like bottom cover thing was all chewed up and dragging on the ground immediately following the incident. I zip-tied it to the bumper before driving home from work that afternoon, but the zip tie tore through the paper and it was dragging again on the way home from work. Bumper is cracked, so will be replaced. This morning, I found a cluster of scratches on my rear passenger side door (probably from debris kicked up and scraping the paint)...so everything should be addressed by the body shop.pictures?
No not paying out of pocket. I was going to initially because I was thinking the damage was below my deductible...but it's a lot more than that. It's ok, bro! I've got a body shop I trust on it. Thanks though, I appreciate it!Are you paying out of pocket? let me take a look at all of this in person and we maybe able to get that initial cost down. just dont go trade it for another stinger if i end up fixing it!
I just realized the front license plate holder won't come pre-installed in the new front number either. I could do the tow hook license plate holder if I wanted...opinions, anyone? Should I go for that?OMG!
