• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

A Countach right next to an F40? For a second I thought I was looking at my childhood bedroom wall.

I will like to attend the next group gathering in Northern VA.

I actually did keep one of my old car posters that I still have hung in the garage. It's a white Countach, red 355, and silver 959. Amazing cars but I don't think a one of them could make it up my driveway without scraping.

I’ll be going again July 13th.
Such a cool event. I'll be going back most weekends.

Also, big thanks to @BertBert2019GT for giving me a front license plate mount for my stinger (the ceramic silver one shown in the picture). I bought my car in North Carolina, which conveniently they don't require you to have a front license plate so my bumper was not drilled).

I’ve been off the forums for a month or two. @Luminary I was trying to get your attention on 66 today on our way home. Gave you blow off valves and some pipes.

I was trying to get your attention on 66 today on our way home.

I did see you, after you had passed. You are always in the HOV lanes and I am always stuck in the traffic lanes. :(
Once I did see you, I wondered if that was you. Now I know. :)

Greg is THE man. I shopped around for a week or two, emailing calling and texting a number of vendors. Greg was the only immediate response AND his response was a link to his twitter account with a video of a paint corrected and ceramic coated stinger. Ha! Sold.

He takes great care of his customers and provides white glove service in an impressively clean working environment.

I went with the two stage paint correction because my black stinger looked like it was parked on the deck of a barge, uncovered, for its trip here from Korea. Swirl marks dot com status. And now my stinger looks like is was painted yesterday.

I also went with the Quartz 2 year warranty package (second tier from the bottom of four available packages). He has two products. I forget the name of the product*** he recommended I go with but the reasoning for it was I could only devote being without my stinger for a few days and it ended up being a rainy week. The product I went with can be driven in the rain within a few hours (FOUR hours) of applying. So after sitting over night in his super clean shop, I was comfortable driving my stinger home in the rain.

***Edit; IGL Coatings Quartz Package

Bert, so I ended up going with Greg, and I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about the service, but I'm not bowled over ecstatic, I'll leave it at that. I just wanted to know from you (and any other ceramic'd owners) does your car feel super slick and glassy like when you wax it? Mine does not, and it seems counterintuitive to me. It does seem to be hydrophobic, sheets off water decently, but it doesn't really feel or look very glossy like fresh wax does. This normal?

I’m no ceramic coat vs. wax expert.

My opinion: The ceramic coat alone doesn’t FEEL slick and smooth like a newly waxed car. But it LOOKS like it. I went with the IGL Quartz. And after my tree sap ordeal the coating has already paid for itself.

If I use a detail spray it’s smooth - but touching it to gauge smoothness just leaves finger prints so I don’t touch my stinger with anything but a microfiber cloth.

Also - I’m not sure if the detail spray I have is good/bad for the coating. I’m bringing it with me to show Greg tomorrow (I have an appointment for the new tint at 10am)

Also - did you get just a coating OR a paint correction and coating?

What color is your stinger?

I want to add/clarify that my paint with the coating is shiny but does NOT have that glossy-new-thicc-wax-coat-look you might have been expecting

To myself: “I’m gonna follow @17th_Letter so our stingers look super cool caravaning home”

Minutes later: Everyone we pass is only looking at yours “F this, his yellow stinger is making mine look like trash”

HAHAHA, I figured i was driving to slow which is why you left me.

I'm red, I got the IGL poly, one step below you. I also got 2 stage paint correction, which is one of my issues.

I didnt think it really needed 2 stage, my paint seemed to be in good shape, but they thought it needed it in a couple of spots. I went with their judgement, figuring since the price diff between 1 and 2 stage is $400 alone, it would be pro rated to somewhere in between. End of the day I got charged the max amount even though they said they only needed 2 stage in a couple of spots, and I still cannot really tell the difference, it's not like I had any obvious swirls, spiderwebs etc. This is one of my issues, not sure if I should have been more insistent on the exact pricing up front, or insisted only 1 stage as my gut told me, or perhaps my expectations were too high.

I've performed and have bought basic paint correction and wax on newish cars before and been wowed at the outcome, I guess I was expecting that level of difference if my paint was so bad it needed 2 stage, but I just don't see it.

I liked Greg himself and his shop was clean and professional, I dont want to sound like i'm trashing them on a public forum, short of a couple of minor hiccups, it was all smooth and I got what I paid for, I just wish I could be as enthralled with it as most others seem to be with their ceramic coats.

IMO ceramic is more function than form in comparison to wax. Wax is more maintenance but has a higher wow-factor. My ceramic coating makes the paint look new without that super thick glossy wax look BUT I don’t have to do anything to maintain it except wash the car and I’ve washed what looked like an entire forest worth of sap off of it without any effort
