Bad Nightmare Oil Change

It's a shitty situation. I reviewed your OP, what's odd is no mention of the oil light (usually means low oil pressure) didn't come on. With no oil (1/2 qt out of what, 7 or 8 quarts?), I'd fully expect there to be no oil pressure and the light to come on.

If them voiding the sale, refunding in full will make you satisfied and they go for it, I'd say go for it. Given the current car market im sure they'll more than make up for it with the next sucker. Make sure you post the VIN so others will know to avoid the car.
I doubt they are going to take the car the managers were ver stand-offish and dare I even say condescending ass-holes. One of the service writers told me he had seen cars come in with a quart and he just fine which I call horseshit. Yeah the car probably still ran but come on. Ya there was never an oil light once oil temp was fine. The only reason I noticed it was as I started to get off the highway I noticed some white smoke and went oh sh*t.

Everything the mgr and service writer say is to get you of their hair as quickly as possible. As you say, horse shit. The oil light is supposed to come on when there's a low oil pressure condition. I don't know if there's an oil temp gauge. My gtline doesn't have the fancy gauges.

Wonder what the white smoke was. Burnt oil usually has a bluish color. Did the smoke have a sweet taste to it (coolant)?

No smelt like burnt oil and they did not do a good job getting me out there quick as I was around another 3 hours after getting back.

Being an ex mechanic, I'd say you / they 'might' have just got away with it and hopefully there's no damage. However....
Document everything that's happened, including time, date, place, people involved, situation that occurred and how it was handled.
Contact KIA Corp ( your local ) and report the incident with your documented history for future reference.

Also, once you're sure it's fixed properly, get them to clean your engine bay and under / stone trays ( at their expense ) so you can easily see any further issues should they arise.

Unfortunately, there was probably low oil pressure because it was spewing out from the filter housing.

Yes that's why I suggest documenting and reporting.

Out of interest, did the oil pressure light come on ?

If you were hard core concerned / serious, you could take this to the next level but that could get ugly and expensive.

On a cold start now, does the engine sound any worse than prior to the f/up ?

Engine sounds the same, no light which after these comments is really odd. By take it to the next level I’m guessing you mean engine tear down?

Oh you're fine everybody's overthinking it My biggest concern would be the Oil all over the undeside of my car, I would contact Kia's corporate office so this is documented

Yes, engine tear down ( then solicitors etc ).
We dont call them solicitors here...working girls maybe but ah nevermind. You party after engine stuff apparently

All for a free oil change.
Yup, as I've said in other threads - my car won't ever see the dealer's service department unless it's a serious, warranty covered issue. So far my services have been elsewhere.

It sounds to me like you got lucky here and you stopped before any damage occurred. But as posted, minor/premature wear issues can often take a long time to present themselves.

I do agree that you're probably fine but document and report it, then monitor.

Tearing an engine down without symptoms is silly but if you get more noise on cold start or knock under load etc you can refer back to the documented and reported event and that would be the backbone of a legal case if it were required.

100% get them to clean the mess they made ( and the rest of the engine bay while they're at it ).

Friends ride had a similar experience. His car is still running perfectly for what its worth.
