Anybody else finding themselves considering maybe possibly trading in for a new Z this spring?

When the Supra was released I just kept telling myself "it's a z4, it's a z4"

I've never owned a fairlady. I had an s13 once upon a time with a sr20DET swap. I always wanted a 300zx and holy moly did you all see those tail lights?! I love my '19 stinger tail lights but wow

Front/rear ends look too square for my tastes. Too small inside.

I test drove a 2016 370z NISMO (manual) and a 2018 370z Sport (auto) a little while back. Fantastic cars but just way too small for me... plus the blind-spots are just as bad as a Camaro! :p

Amazing machines though! I am glad to see Nissan is bringing a new Z after all these many years! Probably gonna be the very last one before everything goes fully electric lol!

If you're taking a survey, I'm not interested in any Z.

I love the throwback 300zx taillights they used but I'm not sold on the front. If the Stinger is your DD then I'd keep it over the new Z, if it's your toy I'd definitely go for a coupe so probably not a bad swap.

Nissan is still a trainwreck.

The new z is on the SAME 2002 platform.

so basically, engine out of affinity red, redone body/interior… but same chassis.

ps. My dad had a 91 300z (NA… not the TT sadly)… it was beautiful.

the ONLY nice thing is the manual in the new z (standard).

Drove a 1974 260z 2+2 as a kid, had a 2003 350z base and a 2008 350z base... miss them all, all manuals, great stock exhaust note, interiors not the best. I’ll have to fight hard to not look a the new Z but at 55, twins and a Maverick mini truck ordered... don’t think it will happen

that's great!^^^

so mentioned above, not a new chassis or new engine (at least for Nissan.) My buddy has a 370z and a bunch of the new interior is the same as his from 10 years ago. Also, it is super small inside. I'm 6'1" and could not live with that car for more than a few minutes. I would go Supra if I was going down that road.

If you guys saw this discussion on one of the Supra threads, it would crack you up!!!!!

I’d go with Supra. Nissan/Infiniti is so outdated. I knew they would just recycle their engine.

Modern tech like blind spot detection helps a whole lot. It's difficult though getting people to adjust their SIDE view mirrors correctly. Most people want to see the rear of their car in their SIDE view mirrors, which basically misses the "blind spot" completely. It's difficult to fix this, but people will try and yank their head around 120 degrees all day long trying to see this mythical spot that they intentionally adjusted their mirrors to miss...

I agree that blind spot monitor is unnecessary with properly adjusted side mirrors, and even more so with a rear view monitor/camera. For vehicles that don't offer an OEM option (i.e., the Stinger and probably 95% of vehicles) there is the aftermarket:
Rear view solution: monitor/mirror dash cam

I barely even need the side mirrors any more. With any vehicle larger than a smart car or motorcycle, by the time the rear quarter panel leaves the view of the rear camera, I can see the front clip in my front side window. (Yes, I still use the side mirrors, but the point is the coverage is ultra-wide and rather than look for a warning light, I actually see any vehicles that would be otherwise obstructed.)

I'm still not interested in the Z, but the rear visibility problem can be overcome.

Best car I ever had was a 1977 Datsun 280Z 2+2 Stinger comes as close to it as any car I've seen.

I love the look of the new Z. Especially love the tail lights. However I'm not sure why people are comparing it with the Stinger? They are completely different cars. If you're considering trading in a Stinger for the Z, why did you even buy the Stinger in the first place?

The Z's obvious competitor will be the Supra, but I also see the V8 Camaro and Mustang as competitors as well. Yes, the pony cars will be larger and heavier but they'll be up on power and practicality. If you're gonna daily the Z I would seriously consider looking at the Mustang and Camaro as well. They will all likely be in the same price range as well.

That's why I don't get why people are getting excited over the Z supposedly starting under 40K with 400hp. You could get that for years on the Camaro and Mustang.

Regarding blind spots, you don't need a blind spot monitoring system. Just buy some $10.00 blind spot mirrors from Amazon or an auto parts store.

The idea of adjusting side mirrors correctly is dead evidently….
