New Stinger Recall

Just got my recall done today. Took a little over 90 minutes. It was the first recall that they had done, but I was reassured that it was done by the best tech and they knew what they are doing. Everything looks clean upon the first inspection. I'm happy with the result and glad that there is a good dealership near me to go to.

Had mine done today in Southern Pines, NC. Took just over an hour. I specifically asked to see the work when they brought the car out. Tech came right over, removed the fuse box top and pointed out some minor rewiring that they do. I took it for what it was worth. Best thing is I get to put my JB, Meth, and EWG wires back on :)

hey Darrin, sent you a message. I'm in So Pines also.

Got my second letter today, called local dealer, have appointment next week Dec. 23 at 10:00...saying 1 1/2 hours.

I am getting my car for a recall on the 28th (i postponed it a couple weeks) because I have a JB4 with the active fuel lines & concerned about the dealer seeing it. The tuner that installed the JB4 hard wired the fuel lines, so removing them I am concerned about.. Would everyone strongly suggest to make sure the JB4 is removed before going to the dealer?? I have an intake as well but dont care enough to remove that..

I assume your JB4 sits on top of your fuse panel and the wires pass through the grommet of the firewall next to it? If so, it's in the way and will have to be removed for them to complete the recall work. Take a look at the TSB procedure posted in this thread. Post #152.

Smithtown Kia completed the install in about an hour and all seems well.

LOL at this... so I took a video of the car before handing off the keys - wheels, body, paint, etc. The young guy who took the keys and notes the VIN, mileage and other pre-service checks, remembered that I took a video the last time I got my oil change done. Yup, sorry I don’t trust anybody!

Everyone here is friendly and they do good work. I will still make my pre-drop off videos, you never know right?

For what it's worth. I showed the service manager the JB4 module on top of the fuse box and told them to not remove it. They did the work by moving it to the side.

That’s my worst nightmare for this car... add performance, something breaks, and now they say “well you modded your car your warranty is voided.” Been there before... added trans mounts, stiffer CABs, etc to my Cobalt SS SC and after cracking the bell housing from wheel hopping it cost me a transmission, they wouldn’t do it, citing mods to blame.

I’ll mod this car the day after I hit 100k miles and it’s out of warranty. Add a box for $500 plus E30 and you’ve got an 11s car. “Yes honey drive it whenever you want like the miles on” LOL

Yeah, same but I don't really drive the car too hard and I only run the JB4 6 months out of the year. I get it, though.

We just had one of our Stinger customers come in to get it done. I looked at the manual Kia gives the techs to do it. It looks pretty simple tbh. It didn't take him long, I saw the fuse box apart, and he was doing work in the back too

Had mine done on Thursday along with an oil change. Took about 2hrs. All looks good so far. I was the third stinger they've done at this particular dealer.

I am waiting on mine. I didn’t get the second letter until yesterday so I am going to make sure my dealership has done plenty of them before they touch my car. They do good work but I don’t want my car to be the guinea pig.

Dropped off at dealer today, they will do the work in the am but gave me a rental for my troubles (2021 K5 with 30 miles on it). The timing is fortuitous as I was planning a bunch of upgrades!
Good timing indeed. Nothing says “wasted money” liking modding a car and having it burn to the ground afterwards. it’s also nice to get an extra 5hp out of this fuse recall, an added bonus for sure
