3.3TT New STILLEN Intake and Cat-Back Exhaust Coming Soon

G'damn, man shut up with your incessant crying in defense about your damn intake! Stop trailing behind me all over this forum to talk about it. That's got to be like 90% of your posts here, shit. Haven't you noticed I don't care about this argument you want so desperately to have? I'm 36 years old, if I say I feel something is better than something else that's my grown ass'd opinion. I don't care if you don't like it. You are under no obligation to read my posts. Damn, it's like you have some kinda stalkers app connecting you to all my posts. You aren't my type. Move on for fucks sake!

Oh yeah..."with all due respect"...
LMAO! Just more lies, BS and negativity being spread by you, again... Everyone can see that the only time I write you is in response to your pathetic “name calling” attacks directed at me. You’re the one constantly instigating, and posting negative BS in everyone else’s threads. Someone simply gives you a fact that contradicts your opinion and instead of accepting it, you run to every related thread to troll. If you truly didn’t care then you wouldn’t keep running around badmouthing “DIY’ers” ideas.

We all get it, you’re full of negative opinions and love to troll. Especially if you get another chance to disrespect anyone with “Frankenstein” intakes. Trust me I don’t want to read your negative nonsense either, but it’s unacceptable to spread misinformation to other readers that come here for knowledge. Maybe you should try to back up your comments by responding with facts instead of another immature rant like you gave above.

And nice sign off, but think you got Respect mixed up with arrogance.;)Respect is obviously something you need to learn...

Sorry to everyone for the OT, and hope that’s the end of the unneeded rhetoric.

Good post from Jonny Tig on open vs fully closed air box on the Stinger. Also said they did thier dyno hood closed which makes sence. Read and draw your own conclusions! Post #220

Thanks for the heads-up. Good info indeed.

JT makes a good point that with the design of the OEM intake ducting there is no cold air flow unless the air is being pulled in. (Stock the air is pulled downward from under the hood) Which means modifying the ducting is mandatory to get cold air from that duct and the DIY should be every bit as good as any other intake as they all pull air from the engine bay.

That’s definitely not how I read it. I read it as if you keep the stock air duct you should have a fully inclosed intake, if you modify it, you should have a box without the back (like JT). Other than that, you shouldn’t run another type of intake on this car. That’s what I got from his post at least.

@STILLEN can correct this if I've misinterpreted it, but based on the information they've provided their intake will draw air into the enclosure because of the low pressure created around the filter when the car is running.

The air will come from a combination of 1) the existing OEM 'cold air' duct directly in front of the filter, and 2) the engine compartment from other openings in the housing.

Though I still don't have a clear picture of the front and lower part of the enclosure, I expect the enclosure openings draw from the coolest part of the surrounding area.

Is it easy to remove the OEM air ducting? or do you have to remove the front bumper?

Yes and yes. But I'd be cautious about 'redesigning' Kia's engineering - regardless of how intuitive some changes may appear, without flow testing to back it up there is a good chance you may end up with worse performance than you started with ... :(

I'll take a bunch of pictures when I get it to hopefully show everyone what exactly we're seeing in the pics.

I agree with you but all intakes except JT keep the OEM ducting and no one makes a fully sealed box. All others will pull air from the easiest source which is the engine bay, maybe a little from the OEM ducting if the box is somewhat sealed.

Stillen did state in an earlier post (#138) that they used smoke testing to confirm they are pulling air through the cold air duct.

I did see that smoke test post, but someone (the test car owner?) said they also needed the box not sealed to get more power - AKA pulling in hot engine bay air, and if they dyno'ed hood open like most do they didn't get an accurate HP reading. How in the world do you smoke test an intake anyway?

Funny I dont remember saying that. Fake news!

Put a smoke source in front of the intake and observe the behavior at different throttle settings, I would expect ...

been watching this thread for a while! When are you guys gonna stop debating about this intake and stop comparing which one is better than the other one. I think one solution is choose what you like and be happy with it though;) after all it's your money!

How do you observe the with the hood shut? Cameras? Where does the smoke go? Intake duct, engine bay (different test of course) Just curious mostly.

Can't speak for the others, but I think the points raised, questions asked and responses from the respective vendors have helped a great deal in getting a clearer picture of the products.

Exactly why I've been gathering as much information as I can - so I can make an informed choice ...
