its less about boost levels and more about ignition timing advance.

A jb4 should just taper down some of these boost levels. That’s an option.
Yeah. That's why I still have my JB4 and on map6.

I just installed a lap3 2.5 tune and had to pull a couple pounds of boost out, especially in this colder weather. I was seeing almost 23psi.

23psi sounds like a lot for the stock turbos. I only max out at 16.4psi.

This is the problem when buying a used performance car. First owner beats the crap out of it. Probably starting to have problems and got rid of it. That car have underlying problems for sure.

I’m running 1.5 tune and have JB4 to log. With 91 octane and E30-40 mix. I get 0-2.8 corrections. Would’ve have been great if 93 + E30-40. No 93 available here. If I go on a trip and have just 91, I set my JB4 to map6 with -3 psi boost reduction. Log shows 0-.8 corrections on a craptane 91. You need to monitor any tune. My 1.5 is clean. Afr, trims, and fuel pressure are healthy.

I’m just waiting on that BMS HPFP reviews and I’ll buy that for sure. I will run straight E85.

Yeah, I'm interested in that as well (or CPI) - got an E85 station around the corner from my house..

Yes, I used the JB4 on Map 6 to pull out some boost.
So when you use the jb4 in tandem with the lap 3 ecu tune what map is safe to use in tandem with the ecu tune ? Is map 6 the only map to use to back down boost ? Also I was reading ppl having problems running both (jb4 and lap 3 ecu tune) and that was causing overboost issues

Yes, it's safe and there are quite few that use both in tandem. The logging features in the JB4 are really good. You either want to use Map 0 (bypasses the JB4 but allows for logging) or Map 6 to pull out boost when using an ECU tune if needed.

Thanks for the info. Never knew that. So map0 to log and map6 to back down boost. How can you log and run less boost at the same time or you can do both? Also when running the jb4 by itself without the tune it does have built in safety features to prevent detonation or knock right running the basic maps like map2 ?

JB4 Will automatically log when your throttle is 80% and above on any map. When you are on map 0, the ecu is responsible for the safety of the engine.

The JB4 will log the pulls in any map. It's probably one of my favorite features of the unit and the customer service is top notch in my experience if you need help.

It can handle that boost fine, but you're shortening the life of everything and more at risk for blowing something up. At 23psi you won't be faster than the guys 18-21psi, so there's no point to it.

Would you equate running less boost to the safety and long term use of the car ? Not trying to be the fastest and also don’t want to stress major engine components. The lap3 stage 1 should be above 400whp without too much boost correct ?
