New JB4 Stinger Dyno Results!

Awesome results Terry, great to see the improvements and support you are giving the platform.

So at that kind of performance boost are you at all worried about the other parts of the car not holding to the added stress of the engine? That's an amazing amount of horse power gains. Can suspension and transmission take that kind of abuse?

E85 is great stuff. 30% mix with the JB4 and fuel control does wonders. :)
Yeah i add 3 gallons every tank and it did made a noticeable difference so if its tuned it'll be much better

The short answer is, it's too early to know for sure. The metrics I see in the engine logs look OK. The drive train seems fine with it. But it's difficult to predict what weaknesses will crop up in the platform as they age.

I’ve heard 600-800 and here is one post with someone explaining the 800hp/tq limits.
Definite possibility, however I remember reading where a Korean tuner (possibly Lap3/Pross), took apart a Singer motor and transmission and were blown away by the level of overengineering of the lower part of the motor and the transmission internals. I also believe that an American tuner researched the power and torque limits of the engine and transmission and the numbers that were quoted were 800 HP/800 lb. ft. if I remember correctly.

If that is, indeed, true, then that is EXTREMELY impressive and sincere kudos to the Kia engineers for that.

@Terry@BMS I'm considering getting your product here soon and just have a couple questions:

1. Will there be any benefits from running 93 octane, or is 91 the best available tune right now?

2. What are the recommended plugs to run?

3. I currently have intakes installed and will be installing the Borla cat-back in the next week. Will the tune automatically be able to take advantage of these two mods?

1) Run the highest octane you can, even on stock tuning, and definitely when tuned
2) Denso 5346 gapped at 0.022", but the expensive HKS plugs gapped at 0.022-0.028" have been used by customers also. I just prefer the cheaper plugs.
3) Yes

Stupid question that's probably already been asked. Can i run map 1 on stock plug gap until I have time to order new plugs/install them?

If all my focus rs parts would hurry up and sell...

You could and you might get lucky and not have any issues.

BUT when we first started the beta testing there were a few of us who left the plugs stock and had issues running map1. A few forum members ended up having to take their cars in for cracked plugs/damaged coils.

Some of us were lucky, though. I ran mine with stock gap for a few hundred miles on map 1 and didn't have any problems. The only reason I re-gapped my plugs is because of the troubles others were having.

In other words you could try it out and may get lucky. But it's definitely a gamble.

Is this car capable of full E85?

Thanks, good to know. I will probably just wait and do them at the same time. I had to swap the plugs on my RS 5 times in 10k miles so this shouldn't be an issue.

See what I can't seem to find is if the opposite is true. I get that I need new plugs for running the tune but can I run stock on the new plugs if I need to?

Yes. You can even run 1/2 the power of stock on the regapped or replacement plugs if you want via JB4 map4. :)

I've been told that your current pricing will be going up next week?

Not sure for full e85 compatible but you will need a tune for that.
Stock ecu can adapt to only 3 gallons of e85 mix anything more will be a major hit on mpg and no difference on hp/tq
Also give it 3 good tank mix before ecu fully adjust and do some wide open throttle will help it learn faster

Right, I understand that. I was more or less asking if the fuel system is capable of pushing a full E-85 tune or if they have tried at all. I have gone that route on my last few cars and prefer it.
