New Forbes Article - Stinger vs performance Icons

The Stinger here was pitched at former Falcon & Commodore owners, 18% of Stinger purchases came from Commodore trade ins, then another large proportion of trades are current Kia owners for the Stinger.
Most here wouldn’t know let alone see a Porsche Panamera, not a popular car here in the scheme of things, I see more Lambos, Ferrari’s & Maserati & now Tesla’s also lots of Merc, BMW, Audi, Lexus here.

Missed my point, I stated “home owners” a lot of us baby boomers live & work in Sydney & “own” their home & have no debt. Australians are also some of the most affluent individuals on the world scale, in your travels have you actually be to OZ or does google provide you with all your information.

Having 13 million Millionaires with a population of 350million is not comparable to AU with a 25 million population, but when you look at it on a per capita basis we punch above our weight in all aspects as a society & not just based on how many millionaires we have.

Think you’re trying to prove something that isn’t in my point. I’m really not saying one is better than other just stating fact. It’s not a matter of per capita wealth. Markets are created by pure numbers regardless of per capita etc. Having over 13 million millionaires makes US one of the biggest luxury car markets in world plain and simple. Kia is competing for share of more wealthy buyers not average Joes as you believe. Average joe in my mind is somone in blue collar job making union wages etc. suspect in US Stinger won’t appeal to that crowd. I know when I worked in warehouse and made low middle class wages luxury car was last thing I’d consider. Stinger wouldn’t have been on menu.

I hear you on Commadore replacement but couple hundred a month is really irrelevant in total market for Stinger. Australia won’t save the Stinger. Lol!

I’m calling Stinger as we know it today dead by end of 2020. Will put a bottle of good scotch on that bet.

I live in Roy, which is just outside of Ogden and about 40 minutes from Salt Lake. Go Grizzlies!
There are at least two Blues up your way, both work at Hill. I learned this on the Utah thread: Utah Stingers

Kia bean counters shipped a new generation of K900 even though dealerships in the US still had brand new 2016s on their lot.

Don't overestimate their levels of common sense.

...in all seriousness Kia has a huge market OUTSIDE of the US. US sales don't matter as much to them as you seem to think.
Hyundai Motor company is the third largest car company in the world.

I've seen one blue one on base and one black one on base. The black one is the only one I see regularly on base. But they are few and far between around here. Audi, BMW and Lexus are everywhere on base (and just generally around the area). Heck, one day I was leaving base, and there was one of each, and in a row, going out the gate. They're everywhere.

By what metric? They are far from most profitable. Profit is what drives all corporations.

Maybe by number of vehicles sold, since that's what you've been arguing at people about throughout this thread?

Must be an accountant, they always twist the figures to suit the situation.

Great, I’m on the wagon & you throw this in my face, no wonder we drink as the rest of us aren’t millionaires.

Hyundai was third largest as of 2016 in vehicles sold. That includes adding Kia to the total number of sales. True, Hyundai isn't close to the top in terms of company profitability, but they are seeing increased percentage gains year after year.

Lol, it's okay. This entire thread he's been barking at people about number of vehicles sold. Now he's suddenly decided that doesn't matter.

I think the rest of us accept your point.

don't feed the troll , put him on IGNORE , he's one of the biggest pains in the ass around here !! hopefully he sells the Stinger ( if he ever owned one to start with) then moves on ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,shhhhhhhhhhh

Why would you doubt that @CaliSting owns one? He's had plenty say about his "adventures" with warranty and service; all the irritating things about the Stinger, he doesn't miss a beat: we hear about it. He likes driving the car a lot. And he dislikes the unlikeable about his particular vehicle. If he experienced one without noises and vibrating brake rotors/pads, then I bet we'd be hearing a different song. Personal experience trumps all statistics and assertions from others. :D

Haven’t you ever been to Disneyland?

It’s the happiest place in the world & dreams come true.

Just twisted Aussie humour.

Lol. Disneyland is like hell: it is crowded, people que up for hours to get a handful of minutes of "fun", everything is overpriced and of dubious quality (especially the "food"), and nothing is real.

My GT1 is the opposite of a Disneyland experience.

Actually it’s both volume and profitability. Porsche is one of most profitable car companies but their volumes aren’t close to top.

Whole thing about Kia going into more premium cars is about profit and being more balanced portfolio of cars. No mistake why Hyundai has recruited Top German execs who understand how to make very profitable luxury cars.

I just think Stinger has come up short in going where the Kia execs want to go. Data indicates Stinger is struggling . The awful resale values of newer used Stingers also don’t fair well for future. Now used sales of much lower priced used cars will cannibalize new sales. I mean who would buy a $50k gt2 if they could get same car in low $30k range with low miles.

But Kia hired two top guys from Euro to develop the Stinger.
