• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

New Corvette

Crazy on that price increase! They had originally said $49,999 for the base C8 over here, but I guess it's now $56K?

Right now, no chance, as I have kids that need to be driven everywhere, so I'd rather drive a Stinger as a daily and a few mods and get it out on the track, rather than driving something like a Jetta GLI everyday and have a 'Vette for 10-15 times a year - way too much $$ / maintenance / insurance / etc for that.. In 10 years (close to 60), when the kids are older, if I can still get in and out well enough? Maybe. Or a used C7 or something..

Yes that is correct, if you have owned the vehicle for longer than 12 months you don't have to pay the import duties/taxes... My sister lives in Kentucky so I have already started looking into this as I am very keen on a Dodge Hellcat or even a DEMON
Nice!! I like your thinking. There are three other cars I like but will never own because their too expensive, Corvette, Nissan GTR and SRT Red eye Hell Cat and / or Demon. I think the Demon's are the most expensive and the scat pack SRT's the least. They are mind blowing expensive to buy here, most well over $100,000.

Unfortunately I didn't win the 60 mill Powerball last night or I'd be booking a flight over :D How much is a Hell Cat and Demon over in US ?

The Charger SRT Hellcat starts at around US$ 66000 and the Challenger SRT Hellcat is from around US$ 60000 and the Demon is around US$ 85000, only problem is that they are all LEFT hand drive, and it is Hell Expensive to do the conversion here in Aus.. you looking at around $ 45000 to do the conversion...

Just wait a couple years and I'm sure they will be coming to Australia in RHD and will be a lot cheaper possibly around Mustang money. But that wouldnt be the high performance versions. I'm sure they would be a bit dearer. A base V8 Dodge Charger/Challenger. That is what will be my next performance car. Fingers crossed.

Yikes !!!........I'll stick with my Sonic. Do you have to covert over to RHD ? Classic cars don't have to but after a certain date I had a feeling they had to be converted. Then there is the possibility the shipping container could fall overboard......happened before, some Ferrari's went swimming and washed up on some beach.:(

Doubt it based on the ridiculous prices currently for the Camaro and the Silverado and the Dodge Ram. Silverado base model starts at $114,000, Camaro base model starts about $88,000, top spec ZL1 is over $150,000 and the Ram tops out about $105,000. Absolute bloody joke and nothing short of price gouging

Wow. Conversion from USD to AUD seems to be about 0.67 right now, or roughly 2/3. So $150K AUD is roughly $100K USD. Still, a ZL1 is around $60-65K here. Maybe 20% more than a Stinger GT2 (at MSRP). Straight conversion for a ZL1 should be ~$95-100K. Not sure if you get the "base, base" model we get here, but that starts at $26K, so $40K converted - that's the real gouge right there. If you mean base V8, that's $36K, so just under $60K.

Mind you, you can often get a significant chunk of $$ on the hood of a non-special Camaro or Charger that's been sitting on the lot, which you probably never get due to the exclusivity. For example, looks like you get up to $2K bonus cash on almost any Camaro right now - that's almost 10% off the price of a base, base 2.0 turbo. Plus, up to $3700 if you own a Mustang :-) And that's just official Chevy discounts. A dealer can discount more for cars they want to move..

Then again... Your Stinger prices ($68K AUD for top-of-the-line) are a STEAL compared to $52K USD here - you're getting a GT2 for $44K USD. So you're getting a huge break (similar to Canada) for Stinger prices.

If you haggle over here, you can get discounts further. My 2019 Stinger GT ( GT2 ) we got for $59,000 aud and that included GT mats, Bimodal exhaust and full tank.

In NSW anything less than 30 years old has to be converted to RHD.
If they are over 30 years old you don’t have to convert them to RHD & in NSW they will only be given Club or Historic Registration which come with restrictions.

That sounds like too much hard work. Plus the US version will be left hand drive. Plus I don't know anyone over there. Yes, from the latest MOTOR magazine, the base model is estimated to be $175000. Eye watering isn't it. I do like the look of it and the reviews have been favourable but for that price, I will be sticking to the Stinger.

You can buy the car here in the states and I’ll keep it at my house for a small fee and driving privileges!

Don't you also have to live in the country of origin for 12 months?
Correct, if you lived in the States for over 12 months & the car was owned & registered in your name then you can import that vehicle back to AU, it’s still a costly exercise.

Aren't you allowed to drive LHD vehicles over there?
You can drive a LHD vehicle as long as it is PRE 1989 (classified as vintage) anything after that has to be converted

Technically the car has to be registered in the USA for longer than 12 months, (so as in the case of my sister in Kentucky, I can buy a vehicle over there register it in my name using her address in Kentucky, keep it in her shed for longer than 12 months, then start the import process to bring it back here to Aus)... only problem is I don't have a spare $100k that I can just let sit in a shed for the next 12 or so months... Therein lies the problem

You can keep a newer vehicle as a LHD however this comes with very strict restrictions, you will only get a Club or Historic Registration, and have to nominate specific days on which you want to use the vehicle.. you cannot use it as an everyday driver unless it has been converted...

I see this every day around Detroit, even in the winter. They have become extremely boring to look at.

Yes and every model before. The C8s have been testing uncovered for a good 6-7 months now. There is also a guy in Dearborn that owns a C8 that I’ve been passing for the last 2-3 months. The C8s are certainly still interesting, but are quickly becoming a boring sight as time goes on, just like every other model.

When it comes to domestics and some other car companies that have U.S. headquarters in the area, I guess you could say I’m spoiled. I remember seeing the new European ranger (RHD) testing uncovered in my area like 12-13 years ago. I’ve also spotted Ford hq owned falcons (w/manufacturer plates) and other rarities that we don’t get here in the U.S.. 4 Ford GTs in a group, a year prior to going on sale, test driving in the middle of winter was certainly a sight to behold.

Cars like the Stinger, G70, and BMW Supra are still a sight to behold for people in my area.
