Hello everyone! I flew ~800 miles to get the Green/Beige color combo and an MSRP discount. Got 26.3 mpg on the way back.

Good:
- The HUD is awesome, I didn't expect to like it so much
- This thing self-drives on highways? I had no idea new cars did this.
- It's faster than I expected. I had a 996 and this feels faster, which is kind of shocking given the 911 had 300hp and weighed nearly 1000 pounds less. Must be the torque I suppose.
- The transmission is better than I thought. I don't miss the amazing PDK in the Porsche and I thought I would.
- I'm ok with the interior quality. I love the beige, and am glad I traveled to get it.

Bad:
- What good is a wireless charger if Android Auto isn't wireless? This is just dumb.
- The USB port charges at 2008 speeds, like 5W literally. It took 3 hours to charge my phone from 65% to 80%.
- The infotainment has humongous lag. It takes almost a second to respond.
- Android Auto is kinda blurry. It looks like Android Auto is being rendered at lower resolution and then upscaled. Not unusable, but noticeable.
- Does sport mode not respect the setting to mute the fake engine noise, or is that just real sound from the new exhaust valves?
- Kia forgot the gas cap spring. Really. The gas cap doesn't open when the latch is released. You have to go back there with a credit card or small fingers and pry it open.

It doesn't drive as well as the Panamera. I don't consider this an insult, just an observation. The stinger drives well and feels like a RWD sedan should. The seats aren't as comfy though and the handling is more floaty than I am used to. Maybe I need swaybars. In any case, the Stinger slots up against it well, especially considering their disparate prices.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your brand new Stinger! I’m glad you found us. :)

Welcome! Great color combo, and nice to hear that the Stinger holds its own against a Panamera, that's a big accomplishment.

I agree with all your USB/AA points. It's a shame to not have wireless AA, and faster charging.

Sounds like you might have a fault gas cap; have them take a look at your first oil change.

Great info! Your gas cap should open by itself, I think yours malfunctioned or is missing that spring.
Yeah the dealer noticed right before I took delivery of the car and called my local dealer to tell them I was coming in for a fix. It's a small thing, but it does make me worry about the rest of the car.

Yeah Kia did a really good job with this car. It's too bad the whole segment is dying and we won't get to see what they could do with a real refresh.

Welcome to the Hive!
Ditto on the gas cap comments
"Engine" sound options can be edited in the options
also check your charging cable...

I have disabled the fake engine sound as you described, but when I switch to sport the exhaust gets audibly louder immediately. I suppose this could be the new exhaust valve feature that is responsible for the 3hp boost, but it sounds similar to the fake sound that I had previously disabled. Not a big deal, just curious what the cause of the increased noise was.

I am pretty sure it's not the cable. Are you posting this as a general rule or does your stinger charge more quickly from the Android Auto/Carplay USB port?

Agreed on lacking wireless AA with wireless charger present. Lets hope it becomes available with a future update. Many of us will be pissed if not.

Re usb charge rates; Does your phone indicate charge current? I use accubattery app to monitor battery. With proper cable, my OP 7T indicates a charge current of 1.2 - 1.5 A from both the front and rear usb ports. I mention proper cable because an older cable I had would barely do 200-300 mA. I don't think the ports support anything over 2A if you phone has a 3A capability.

I notice lag when starting the car, but a few min after boot it seems snappy enough.

I wish AA would use the whole screen. Again, lets hope kia addresses these issues in the near future. Based on past updates, maybe we'll see one more before year's end.

Hey psperl,

Welcome to the Stinger Forum and congrats on your 2022 GT2.

Thank you for sharing your experience of switching from the Panamera to the Stinger.

If the floaty suspension feeling is bothering you, I would highly suggest Ark Performance Sway Bars (Click HERE).

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, need suggestions, or if you would like a discount on your order!

Enjoy the new ride,
Daniel @ the K8 Stinger Store

I have an S20 Ultra and I haven't checked the literal current. My phone says "charging", "cable charging", "fast charging", "super fast charging", and "super fast charging 2.0" depending on how it negotiates with the charger. Plugged into the USB ports on the car, I get "charging," and it barely provides enough power to run Android Auto and not lose battery. When I plug the same cable into a decent 12V charger plug, I get "super fast charging." I suppose it's possible the cable is terrible and limits to a low amperage, and the difference is that the 12V charger uses a higher voltage, but I doubt it.

When you get 1.2-1.5A, does your phone charge quickly? Like within an hour?

Any reason to prefer the Ark swaybars over the Eibachs?
The most important factor is that the front and the rear sway bars are in stock.

Both are great options but Eibach has been having a lot of trouble fulfilling inventory due to Covid 19 delays.

I can't answer that directly as I've not had a phone in the car long enough to charge it to that extent. I ran into issues powering my garmin (driveluxe 50) with the old cable, and that charges at the low (500mA @ 5v max) rate. That's what prompted me to get a different cable.

These are the two i'm using which support at least 1.5A. With these I would expect a phone to charge fully within an hour.

I have adapters to go from mini-micro-type c.

Welcome, congrats, and thanks for the comparison.

Regarding wireless AA and the charging port, I haven't had any problems with charging rate on my 2021 on my Note 10+. My commute is about 30-40 minutes with constant AA navigation and Spotify, and it seems to top it off every time.

For easy connection and storage, I added a pocket in the footwell and ran a magnetic tip cable to a convenient spot for quick hookup and removal:

I can place the phone in this pocket and connect the cable without looking and almost zero effort thanks to the magnet. I leave the tip installed in the phone at all times and use a wireless charger at home.

That's super nifty! I just ran out and tried a different cable and got the same results :(

I would install that app to verify actual charge rates. There's another one out there called Ampere.

Also worth noting, if your phone is actively doing things then the charging rate will be diminished. The phone will prioritize using the power from the cable to operate, and whatever is leftover goes into the battery. Using AA uses quite a bit of power from my experience, the cable only seems to barely keep up with AA operations.

re: the exhaust noise, if you have the enhanced engine sound turned off for all modes, then you probably are just hearing the actual exhaust... not surprising it sounds similar since they supposedly recorded the actual car from all around the car inside and out to create the "enhanced" sound.

now i'm curious about my charge speed... i'll check it out in a bit today when i run errands... I never thought it was super slow.. not as fast as my fast charger but seemed normal for a 500ma charge rate which is what is limited to usb 1.0/2.0 . Which is quite slow... it would be like trying to charge your phone from an old computer usb port with only 2.0.

Anyone know what the wireless charging is capable of? How many amps or watts?
