"NAV" is the name I have given her since early July, when "she" led me to a playground in SE Oregon: where the traffic up ahead on Hwy 95 was being held back for construction, and I didn't know of that, and wondered why I had the highway all to myself: and I cut lose with some launches and high speed "tests" of the car and myself. Boy, that was fun!:D

On the 26th of March, 2018, three days after my test drive, my wife and I returned to Jerry Seiner Kia (South Jordan) just after the sales department opened for business. By mid afternoon I was driving away in my brand new Silky Silver AWD GT1, listening to Conan the Barbarian (Basil Poledouris) on the Harman Kardon surround sound (which has only gotten better since the subs broke in). :Dhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/o3venj5y3vvnurr/MOV05355.MPG?dl=0

I was instantly satisfied and enthralled. And a year later, the "honeymoon" continues.

In 365 days of owning and driving the Stinger, not one thing has gone south or started to cosmetically wear out. Of course, I don't have teens and toddlers at home anymore, which helps. But I have had grandchildren in the back seats a number of times, though sans food or drink, and only for brief joy rides. They haven't kicked the seats, slammed the doors or mucked up the upholstery (at least not that I have noticed). The car has received very gentle treatment.

Everything that Kia hype claimed for the Stinger GT has proven to be real. It is actually more fun to just sit in and drive than I expected. I look forward to long road trips: unheard of!

I've added an Eibach rear sway bar. And a little while back I purchased TSW "Watkins" rims and had my Michelin Pilot Sport tires put on them. As winter ended, I put this setup back on and put away the stock GT rims and the Nitto Motivo UHP A/S tires that have carried me through the winter. That is all I've done as far as performance mods go.

PPF on the entire frontal area after the first couple of months or so has preserved it from road debris damage. The rest of the paint seems as smooth and shiny as when I first laid eyes on her.

I look forward to a second year of traveling and driving fast in the Stinger. The practicality of her size and hatch space is very much appreciated. I didn't want a sports car. I wanted the Gran Turismo that Kia hyped: the comfort, affordable luxury (the savings on materials are, imho, done in the right places), cabin quietude, and most of all the resulting reliability and delivery of a high performance, safe ride. I'm still amazed that I bought a brand new car for the first time in my life.

Here's how she looked when I first laid eyes on her (a trade by Jerry Seiner with Doug Smith, to get the Silky Silver color):

Here she is at Costco this afternoon, all gassed up and with her new wheels on:

And as I slid behind the wheel to run errands this afternoon, the odometer showed exactly 16,500 miles: 1,500 over what my lease would allow; but I did the buyout after three payments, so no problem; but it shows just one more reason why the buyout was a good idea: I can't keep my hands off my car. :p

This morning, first thing, I came to Jerry Seiner for my 15K miles maintenance. (I'm in the customer waiting room right now.) It's like a "service 2", but with engine check as well. Some specific Stinger items, like engine filter and turbo filters. They say mine still look pretty clean, and they'll order the new filters in for when I come back for my next oil change in c. 2K miles. All good news! Now I am ready for my next road trip (to TX) next month.

erm.. what are "engine filters" and "turbo filters"?

Ask "James".:p When I get the invoice in the middle of April (after the TX trip, and the next oil change), I can share the parts numbers with all you all. Then we'll know. I guess. He's ordering the filters. He specifically said that the 3.3L twin turbo needs two of them, as compared to the 2.0L only needing one.

Today's 15K miles maintenance cost $90.28. It isn't complete, because the "filters" need to go on and the GDI service is best done during an oil change.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
he extact thought I had once I read, but I think we all know what "James" is referring to. Right? :cautious:
Nope, not a bit. Should I call and ask him for the parts numbers now, so I can "research this"?

most likely he was referring to the engine air filters.

Well, yeah, that sounds more like it. "I am not a car guy," there I've said it again. And the "turbo filters"? What am I misremembering (leaving out) about those?

He just did not know what to call them and gave you two different names for the same part. The fact that he stated "your car needs two, since you have 3.3 and not 2.0 were it needs just one" confirms it.

The 3.3 has two intakes, one per turbo, and on each one there are filters that remove most impurities from the air.

Excellent write-up Merlin! Glad you're happy with your Stinger!

Thanks. My nomenclature is the trouble. "James" is trying to explain things to a car mechanical rube.

Thanks! I was thinking, Long Term Review - but trying to keep it short. :p

I'm glad you are having a blast in your car like I am.

Still having a blast. Two years old (still feels new) today. :D No issues. Only regular maintenance visits to my dealer. Still in "honeymoon mode". Love having such a fun way to get around. I wash NAV at least once a week. Her paint still looks new; except for the few, tiniest attrition marks, which I put a dot of Silky Silver paint onto; can't see them from five, six feet away: the rule of thumb for acceptable appearances (nothing in life having any business being perfect, after all).

Laughing here: (no more acronyms; they dilute the language and separate us from literature in the past): I saw this email waiting for me right after I wrote that:

Dear Merlin Larsen,

Wow, time flies when you're having fun! You will probably find it hard to believe that it's already been 2 years since you purchased your 2018 Stinger. We'd like to thank you for being part of our Kia family, and we appreciate your continued loyalty.

As always, we hope that you will not hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance. We can be reached by email at sweinman@jerryseiner.com, or by phone at 801-685-3352.
Happy Motoring!

Happy Anniversary to your wonderful relationship with “Nav.”
If I may ask you about your buyout after three months into your lease, I would like to know what is involved?

One month for me today as it pertains to my Stinger ownership.
