MY22 Canada Stinger

When do the final configuration details come out?

Not sure officially, but if I had to guess, right along side the new Sedona. (My guess is they didn't want to launch the new logo on a minivan heh). I think I have the info here, but I have 0 clue if there's an embargo or not, so I'd rather not play with fire.

Considering ours was built and ready to ship and we turned it down, VERY soon.

Sedona launch in the USA is set for Feb 23rd but still no news for the MY22 Stinger. I bet us Canadian will have information after USA launch.

Let us know when / if you get more details!

MY22 Stinger will arrive late next month. MY22 Sedona/Carnival will be late next month or April

The specifics of exactly what the interior looks like, how the variable exhaust works, etc., etc,. likely won't come until actual release.

Alrighty I have the VPOG. Again I don't want to talk about it, simply because I don't know about the embargo if there is one. It's not labeled and I haven't heard anything, but better to play it safe

What I will say, is at least looking at the new green colour on an uncalibrated cheap, VGA connected (yes VGA, I know) monitor..... It's awesome. Mind you, I'm colour blind, but to me it looks like the new Sorento Green, but it has a different name, which means there must be a tweak.

There was Kia Global press release back in August when the facelift model had its global launch which mentioned the following:

"For North America, a new ‘Black Package’ is offered, giving customization fans the chance to enhance the aesthetics of the Stinger further with an aggressive new look. The Black Package includes new 19-inch matte black lightweight wheels, a new rear wing for the trunk lid, and blacked out mirror caps and side fender trim."

Any hint on whether we can expect these new black package goodies in Canada?

Right now it does not seem to be part of the initial documentation the dealer has received. My guess it since for Canada we do not have options and packages we might have this as a limited edition at some point... Will see ...

I wish it was a package that can be added to the Limited or Elite thought, I am not a big fan of chrome or black chrome

That’s correct no black out edition stinger for Canada at least nothing official yet.

You can DIY a “blackout edition” for <$100

I have my front grilles, side vents, mirrors and that piece on top of the doors done with this in gloss black.

Or Hyperdip is another option. I’ve heard good things.

Hello guys,

MY22 is now up on Kia.ca.

Seems like even if now USA get 2 trims like us the USA GT2 is similar to GT Elite in Canada but the new GT1 in usa and new GT Limited in Canada are very different.

Our New GT Limited loose some feature from previous GT Limited but is not as strip down like the new GT1 is in the USA.

GT Limited prise is unchanged vs GT Elite is 2500$CAD more. In USA GT1 vs GT2 price difference is 7600$ USD which is huge! But GT2 price increase is only 900USD vs us 2500$CAD for GT Elite.

The GT elite is now the old GT Limited but you have to pay more to get features the old GT Limited had. $55,195 for a GT Elite vs $52,640 for the 2021 GT Limited. $3,000 more for blind spot view monitoring and the subtle refresh items Kia added? That's pretty steep for me. I'm still baffled as to why they messed with the trim levels for the GT here.

Another interesting nuance, the GT Elite Suede only comes with black interior for all exterior colours which i guess makes sense because of the suede seat inserts.

You can now finally also get Ghost grey with the red interior. Something that used to only be available on the Anniversary edition.

We the new information we have today I realize that this is not totally true.

+ High end Screen and Navigation vs previous 7"
+ Improved UVO Next Gen
+ Variable exhaust
+ Harman Kardon
+ Auto-dimming rear view mirror with HomeLink® and compass
+ 7" Supervision LCD/TFT instrument cluster
+ Air-cooled front seats
+Heated rear seats
+ All the safety LKA, LFA, HDA ....

New GT Elite over previous GT Limited
+ New 10.25 screen and software
+ Variable exhaust
+ Improved UVO Next Gen
+ Improved Seats / interior quality / stiching
+ Blind spot monitor
+ HDA, LFA

Also there are many thing they probably improved that is not visible
Transmission programing, suspension tuning, throttle response ....

Alllllrighty, I've been dying to actually talk about it, I'm assuming it's safe now, as you know..... it's on kia.ca

1:
So the BIG thing

Price, Website is half wrong, the banner shows $45k, the builder is showing the 50,495. Our VPOG gave us a range showing they haven't actually nailed down the pricing until launch. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think there's 2 main things to consider. The new G70 isn't out yet, and Kia might be trying to grab a bit more cash based on the refresh hype (you normally see a bump in sales on a refresh, especially on a car like the Stinger)

It wouldn't surprise me if we saw that drop back down over time. (Considering we saw price drops on the pre-facelift stinger)

2:
Features, I really really really like the feature changes, it needed to be done, with how actually amazing the tech is in all the new Kias, even just in the few years after the Stinger.

2.5:
BUT, I really don't like the new naming. Calling the entry level the GT limited, and giving it entry level features below what the Limited used to be (yes I know the Stinger is still VERY well equipped at any trim) seems to me just an attempt to justify the higher price. If it was more than just an update to the tech.... then ok I get it. But they just plunked the 10.25 inch they have in everything, updated the safety suite, and the slight change in lights and new wheels.

3:
That Green tho.

4: I know I'm complaining about the price, but I'm still very very happy with the changes. Stinger still looks really good, has aged very well, I think they did exactly what needed to be done

To compare trims, look at the prices. You can't say the new GT Limited is like the old GT. The old GT was $45k.

The old GT limited was $50K, the new GT limited is 50K. You'll have to compare those two

Right, that's why i said the "subtle refresh items Kia added". Those features listed there for the GT Elite vs the old GT Limited aren't enough for a $3,000 price hike for me. Others may feel differently but i've watched the videos. The exhaust is underwhelming/barely noticeable, the seats are very similar with the same fine nappa leather but no GT badge on the head rest, the blind view monitoring is gimmicky. The best thing they added is the new display with updated UVO and a frameless rear view mirror.

None of the reviewers have commented that the car drives/performs any differently. Perhaps when I see one/drive one I will feel differently but as of now i'm underwhelmed and it would take a lot for me to "upgrade" especially with a $3,000 premium tacked on to get similar features that I have today.

And why don't we get the GT Line in Canada? A 300hp 2.5T Stinger with AWD for $42,000ish CAD dollars sounds pretty damn appealing now.

I agree.

Previous GT is not equal to new GT Limited in both price and options and I was just stating the options that are different.

Previous GT Limited is very similar to new GT Elite but price increase of 2500$ and I also agree that 2500$ more is high for what they added compare to the 900$USD price increase that GT2 receive.

I really wish that at that price for the GT Elite they included front parking sensors that are still missing and maybe other goodies.

Seem like in Canada people were buying mostly exclusively the GT Limited. The sales for the 2.0T was very very low and also the GT sales were not very good.

I guess KIA figured out that same thing would happen even with the new 2.5T, who knows?
