MY21 Aussie Release Date

Right? It's strange.

Maybe some of the MY21 owners can send us a picture of the rear indicators? If the corner has the standard 10 led cluster, it means it's just software and can be enabled somehow.
Just checked an MY21 photo & can confirm that the corner sections have the 10 led cluster the same as sequential versions.
 
Yes but wouldn’t it be disabled for them in their software if it was software, as it’s not a 2021 model?
Well the fact that they plug & play would mean it’s not a software thing but maybe a module in the light housings to allow the sequential function.

Audi has sequential in OZ so compliance would not be the issue.

It doesn't make much sense to me, but definitely interesting. Can you send a link for people retrofitting the new tail light with sequential indicators (not the reflector modification)?

Yes, it could be an inline module/relay that could be purchased & retrofitted or you could buy Korean L & R assemblies & problem solved.
 
Maybe as stated in this thread you will get the "Dark Package" later as described below that is for "many markets worldwide"....

For me in Canada I hope that we will get the "Black Package" sadly often even when "North America" is specified it only mean in fact USA... but so far for the Stinger we have been lucky for assessories and value.

For high-performance variants in many markets worldwide, a new ‘Dark Package’ brings with it a gloss black diffuser surround and black wide-bore muffler tips. The Stinger emblem on the tailgate is also finished in black. For North America, a new ‘Black Package’ is offered, giving customization fans the chance to enhance the aesthetics of the Stinger further with an aggressive new look. The Black Package includes new 19-inch matte black lightweight wheels, a new rear wing for the trunk lid, and blacked out mirror caps and side fender trim."
 
Not having sequential indicators for Au is puzzling. It wouldn't make sense they manufactured different lights, so I bet it can be enabled in the back end of the system. I don't think Kia aftermarket has easy diagnostic tools to enable features like VCDS (VW and Audi) just yet? I'd say it will appear in the near future.
See the problem is you’re applying a certain degree of logic about manufacturing different lights, but I’ve posted before in the original Australian Stingers, the 2018 model they didn’t include the interior ambient lighting, heated steering wheel or those stainless steel scuff plates on the inside of the hatch near the boot latch, or Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. We had the Continental ContiSport 4 tyres from the factory. Every other market got all of them included. Then mid 2018 they released the 2019 model in Australia and guess what, interior ambient lighting, heated steering wheel, stainless steel scuff plates in the boot and Michelin tyres. Trotted out here like they’d done an upgrade on the Stinger when all they did was give us what the rest of the world was given a year earlier.
So whilst I agree with you that it doesn’t make sense to manufacture different lights or to enable some things in the software and not others, apparently it makes perfect sense to Kia to do it and generally speaking it means we get a version of the poverty pack spec and then next year they’ll say hey look at us with an updated model and they’ll drip feed us what they’ve already given to the Yanks, Europe, Korea & Canuckistan.
In the meantime if you want the extra bits you’ll have to pay more than market price (once you factor in shipping & exchange rates) to eBay or some other distributor who sells mods. You’ll usually get genuine Kia spare parts that they’ve sourced from Korea but which our local dealership spare parts department will tell you they aren’t available even though Kia made them and then you’ll have to pay someone to fit them depending on what it is and what your skill set is, otherwise you’ll have to wait for the drip feed model mid to late next year.
And yes 2 years down the track of owning a Stinger I love the car but I’m still dirty at Kia for not giving us the features the rest of the world got. Especially since they released them here a month after I bought mine but as usual didn’t announce it in advance otherwise I would’ve waited and got a 2019 model a month later.

Many car companies are doing this, very early new car platform miss a few things that are sometime added a few months later when the supply chain is able to manage it. You guys are starting getting the new facelift now and it will come many months later to USA / Canada. So it will probably more complete / mature once it reaches North America...

So you can get your car early with a few things missing or wait like us and get a few more stuff... You can choose to wait or not, we in North America only have the option to wait.

Just to add & if I remember correctly it was not just AU that missed out on certain options at the start, I believe the US did not get the 360deg. camera whereas Canada did.

I haven’t read this thread, but I saw my first 2021 at a dealer the other day. Shame about a couple of missing updates (headlights/rear large stinger badge) but the interior was very nice/solid.

Overall, I’m not to fussed about upgrading even if I could.

I think 'poverty pack' is a bit of an exaggeration. In any case, continually adding new features for each model year is common across the industry.

In early 2010 I bought a just-released fifth generation Subaru Liberty. Within 12 months Subaru added AEB and adaptive cruise control, which were big-ticket items back then. In early 2015 I bought the just-released sixth generation Liberty; it didn't have blind spot monitoring and reverse cross traffic alert despite the fact that those features were available in the USA. A year later those features were added for Australia. And yet, I thoroughly enjoyed owning both cars.

This doesn't just happen in Australia - as Stinger GT SS said, the first model year Stinger in the USA didn't get the 360 degree camera; however the first model year sold in Australia did get it. Neither the USA nor Oz got ambient lighting in the first model year.

While the MY19 Stinger in Oz got Michelin tyres, the heated steering wheel wasn't available until MY20. The MY21 now gets the bigger nav screen and blind spot cameras; and I'll bet the MY22 will get new features too.

KIA add some new features every year; if your number one priority is not to miss out on next year's new features, you'll never buy one.
 
I’ve seen one now, and it’s nice, now I simply forget it exists and concentrate on enjoying my 2019.

I know, really weird around the sequential indicators, as soon as we view one here, will confirm we have them. Yes, Blue was deleted but there were a few issues with that colour here so could be the reason why. And no options in regard to seat colours, similar to our previous model. We never had the option for red.

The brochure seems to be for the LHD market so I doubt NZ will differ from AUS.

Bit dubious about the statement at the bottom of page 1 "Pre-release product guide only – final spec may be subject to change"
I reckon we'll have to wait for one to hit the ground here to be sure one way or the other what changes we'll be getting
