I was a service manager for a GM-BMW-Subaru dealer for 12 years. End of discussion for me.

Oh, that's fantastic. And what is the verdict? Which manufacturer had the best service record? I assume Subaru, yes? GM and BMW a tie, but BMW 10x more to repair or?....

I had a 2014 Audi A4 2.0 and it was great. Nice looking in and out. Decent performance. Great ride though. Would I ever purchase an Audi again?.. Yes I would but only if I had 100k for an RS7.

I left Audi for my New GT1 and I am absolutely amazed by what Kia has done. I’m not one to nicpick about little features. I think the interior and the features in the GT1 are beautiful. I never think about my Audi now since my GT1

I finally got to see the inside of a Stinger today at the local dealership. I could live with that wheel center.

The salesman proved to me that this is a real GT car and showed me the hatch as proof )

Oh, they had a $995 sticker for pin stripes, paint protection, wheel locks, etc. Pin stripes in this day and age!!!

BTW I was impressed with the sound system. Same as in my 535i but it sounds much better. Kia has done a great job with this car.

The kia I think you and many people think of is long gone. Glad you enjoyed the stinger.

For years now I have regarded both Kia and Hyundai as being in the same playing field as some of the best cars being sold in this country. It just so happens that I have liked Kia styling much better the Hyundai. As much as I like the Stinger I can't talk my wife into it...for her it's too much like the first 3 Series that I liked so much but had to get rid of after only 2 yrs of ownership. The one thing that totally through me out was the salesman that had no clue and the dealership with a 70's mentality charging their customers for useless things like pin-stripes and paint protector. We do have better Kia dealers in the area. The previous owner of the BMW and Cadillac stores here in Arlington 2 miles from our house sold to a conglomerate and now owns two Kia stores in our county. When he sold out his BMW dealership most of the veteran employees abandoned ship and after only one visit to the same store under the new ownership left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. The high pressure sales tactics that we all hate sent me to the dealership in Ft Worth and that's where I leased my present 535i and where I service it. Reports on the 2 Kia stores he owns plus one in northern Dallas County are all very positive!

As much as I like the Stinger I can't talk my wife into it...for her it's too much like the first 3 Series that I liked so much but had to get rid of after only 2 yrs of ownership.

I had to do a lot of persuading to get my GT1.. I did the most negoatiating with my wife more than I did with my salesman haha.. it took from December 2017 to get my wife’s approval last week with that said, I disagree about the stinger being like the 3 series.. two totally different body shapes and space inside. 3 series is smaller and less performance in my opinion (stinger premium, not GT and if we are talking about a lower 3 series model). The only comparison I can make with the stinger is the Audi A5 sportback. Maybe you can convince your wife now

It's interesting that you say that. There are a lot of folks that still remember the company from when it first came here years ago but when they see one of the newer designed KIA models, they love it until they get close and see the badge, then they automatically lose interest and don't even want to see what's inside or learn about it. Some will but the badge snobs wont. I've had Audi's and BMW's and it's sure nice to get new loaners, the place I used to go would put you in a loaner vehicle the next level up if you are within a year of the lease being up so the dealership can upsell you to another vehicle later. If the regular guys do this they could also generate some interest and sales.

My KIA store gave us a Sorento to drive and we had plans to look into an XC60 but after driving that car, it had such a luxury feel that I told my wife that we would have to look at KIA's offering as well when we get ready to get an SUV. Of course with the Stinger coming to market, I'm thinking we may end up going KIA all the way, though an SUV will have to wait.

I told my wife that when (not "if") I win the lottery I'm going to get myself an RS7 Perfomance. I'm absolutely in love with that car. If I were a teenager I'd have a poster of one in my room.

Mike, if you can read back on my posts and see what it was meant. Not a comparison between the two cars, but rather that the 2004 3 Series was the best handling car I ever owned. One that I could not resist attacking each and every turn like a F1 driver and that's the reason my wife made me get rid of it after only 2 yrs. She got sick and tired of having to hang as hard as she could and still her head would go one way and her butt the other way at each turn. She's afraid we would be going back to this old predicament with me driving the Stinger. I keep telling her I am past 80 yrs old now instead of in my youthful 70's when we had the 3 Series. She says...yeah, yeah sure!

I remember the days when Hyundai and Kia used thin vynil covered cardboard on the doors. But that's when Korea was a poor, backward nation. I recall in one of my trips to Korea (USAF) we went on a short tour to an auto assembling factory (years ago) and I could not help to feel for how those poor workers kept working hard with no heating inside the factory, wearing heavy coats and that's before robot assembly in the industry. Times have changed. Several Korean coworkers even returned to their homelands because they were sure that they could make more money than they were making here in the USA. BTW - Back in the 70's we were stationed in Ankara, Turkey. They forecasted us to Seoul, Korea for our next assignment. Thats when I decided to retire. Too hard on the family to go from a 3rd world country to another 3d world country. Korea's economy and the country has been different for a number of years and so has been their auto industry!
