3.3TT Mishimoto's Stinger GT Intercooler Kit R&D Thread

They need to hire more engineers.
Products are good but slowest Time to Market ever.

Nice. Thanks for sharing that. 8fl-lbs and 8hp looks pretty dang good, along with that huge difference in heat soak (or lack thereof).

For the record, there are no other intercoolers out there that I'd even consider. I'm just frustrated in waiting longer, because evidently I had a time frame in my mind of it being ready around March or April.

Woe is me. Oh well. #firstworldproblems
I doubt it’s actually “making” more hp. I think it’s more of saving 8-10hp where the stock system loses that due to heat soak. But still remarkable.
I agree the wait sucks but with this being a new platform, and the fact that it’s not super popular, means that’s just how it’s going to be for everything aftermarket. I’ve been waiting for a decent big turbo upgrade since the day I bought the car lol.

It can make more horsepower due to increased the piping size.

Agreed with what @xot1 said above - they flowbenched the new Y-pipe and improved the overall piping bends to build upon the increase in flow. They also designed a really good core to prevent pressure drop. Considering all the r&d associated with airflow, I'm not surprised to see an increase in power in the top end. If you look closely at the Dyno you can see the steady increase in power, getting larger and larger as the RPM goes up. All of these results appear to be primarily based on the improved flow characteristics of the overhauled charge piping/system.

Nice vid. Any one else notice the front spinning rotors of death? Just pull the AWD fuse!

Haha. Well, I certainly appreciate them keeping the numbers AWD just because my car is AWD too. Also, when I did my baseline dyno we didn't pull the fuse and just kept it AWD. Of course I'll do the same when I repeat it. Just waiting for this friggin IC kit to come out...

Sucks it's gonna be that much longer. Really wanted to get this kit installed this winter while the car is sitting, get it all buttoned up and "done" for spring.

Was this test on stock boost levels? 8 hp at 14 psi might double at 20 psi?

I recall Nick saying their car is completely stock.

Edit: Here it is...

That all said though, we did see a power increase on the stock tune with our kit ;) We'll have the results on just how much power coming soon!

Anyone know how the new BMS I/C compares to this one?

Performance. I was hoping to get the Mishi kit and have the car ready to drive next month but obviously not gonna happen. BMW has theirs available now. Mishi's kit seems like a very well rounded system, from what I've read and learned here, but know nothing about the BMS one. Just trying to compare units and see if it's worth it to wait or not.

Mishi,
Even a cost window of several hundred would be helpful. Something like, Pre-sale: $600-800, regular production: $900-1,100.

Help out your aspiring customers who've been waiting a very long time!

If you noticed the total power and torque (307hp, 352lb/ft) from that dyno run both numbers were pretty low compared to other stock dyno charts I've seen. This might have been a pretty conservative estimate. Also, note the date on that monitor is over a month old at this point.

In any case, its super exciting to see something. Thanks for sharing, Team Mishi!

I for one don't mind waiting for a quality product. Sure I want it now but it's not critical as long as it's done the right way.

Hopefully, the pre order price is a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the F160 ecoboost. It’s $1352.95 on their website.

I’m hoping the pre-sale will be a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the f-150 ecoboost kit. It sells for $1352.95.
