Mbrp Pro+Ark Secondary/Midpippe drone fix exp.

also i think mbrp knows about the drone issue with there cat back because they sell a resonator kit for it now ...
When I was checking out tips for the 2022+ models, I came across those resonators. I think they've come to realize that so many people are running cat-less secondaries which will either create drone that was never there before or make the drone even worse for people who say they experience drone with the MBRP exhaust by itself.

For me personally, I did experience drone for the 1st couple hundred miles when I first installed the MBRP exhaust. I just remember every time I had a passenger in the car and did a cold start, we couldn't hear each other talk (or ourselves for that matter) for about the first minute or two. It wasn't that the exhaust was loud, it just matched the same frequency as our speech. It reminded of how a good set of headphones cancels out surrounding noise. After a couple hundred miles, it completely went away (I don't know if there is such a thing as "exhaust break-in period," but that's the story I'm going with :p) . I still got tips on my car long after this and didn't notice a single change in exhaust sound (tone, decibels, or drone).

does anyone have a video of drone and the sound? My resonators will be here Wed and installed, but I think there is more of an issue. My sound is almost like a bad rattle then drone. Just watched the MBRP buy me video, ROFL they say no drone, really? My car sounds like an out of control weed trimmer, it is HORRIBLE. Could the system be broken out of the box? There is no way anyone would drive a car sounding like this. I am going to take a video tomorrow and post it here.
I wonder if the rattle was the exhaust tip of the MBRP resting on the Stinger's fake exhaust tips? I had that problem on my passenger side. It didn't matter how many times I loosened those damn band clamps and tried adjusting the exhaust to be centered in the Stinger's fake tips, it never worked. I could get them centered, but after the I drove the car, they would sag down and touch the fake tips, making a constant rattling sound. The driver's side was perfect. Even before tightening the band clamps, the exhaust would only sag down far enough to be perfectly centered inside the fake tips. This was my primary reason for buying aftermarket tips that actually connect.

Once I get to the point of doing secondary downpipes, I think I'll add some Vibrant 1792 Resonators as I don't want to create drone, nor do I want the "raspy" exhaust sound either. I like the deeper tones that the MBRP gives, but maybe just a little louder.

Hello, mine is really bad on startup and gets worse while driving. Going to put the stock pipes back on test it, see if that fixes it. Then going to put resonators on and ark pipes and see what happens. Tips will be here sometime in December from China.

i feel like some people may be suffering from a improper installation ? as far as rattle issues or it touching the body / rear valance

Yeah I found that taking off the fake tailpipes off the valence helped tremendously with the drone.

i literally removed the exhaust last weekend and cleaned all the joints / resealed them and spent a lot of time re hanging the exhaust paying strict attention to how the tail pipes sat in the rear valance , it took a while to figure it all out but if everything lines up as it should it really helps with the drone and any rattles , im thinking of making a back plate like the stock exhaust has to combat the rear wave of the exhaust going up into the huge chamber above the bumper support , it may help and should be easy to fab up . the jun bl has it so ? well see

i went under the car, the pipes are dead center and when I move them as far as they can go, they do not touch the tips, I will video at the shop later this week when testing, stock pipe with MBRP, stock pipe MBRP with resonators, ark pipe, MBRP with resonators.

I know that for me, even with the pipes being dead center they move around during driving and do tap things. The thing that worked best for droning was the clamped on exhaust tips people were buying. The exact ones are on another exhaust thread.

Ya i bought the tips, wont be here for another 4 weeks.

That's good. You'll notice a huge improvement. I tried to do the exhaust wrap and clamp method which was terrible. Broke down and bought the tips from China. Just make sure you screw them on tight. I lost two and had to wait another month to get more tips from China.

Is this a different resonator than the current model comes with? Mine looks like the picture, has Helmholtz resonators on it already.

OK, thanks.
If Santa comes through this year, I might have a set of Ark secondaries. Good to know that if it is a problem, I have a solution.
I do have tips though.
I will let you know on thursday if the resonators fix the issue.

The Mbrp resonator fix is adding 2 of them after the x pipe
